Holy shit, this can’t be true, right? It’s only been a few days that the reports were that the evidence is very damning against Guerin. Let’s just hope USA Hockey is not this stupid.

It's not remotely similar but that won't prevent the hot takes and pitchforks.
It is just ridiculously dumb. I don't think that is a hot take or me walking down the street with a pitch fork. They just lost their first choice as GM due to the results of an investigation. So they decide to pick another person with an ongoing investigation? It is mind numbingly stupid is what it is.

In related news, Minnesota Wild are looking for a GM who can find them a Center, and not do dumb sh!t.

Guerin is a person in power that is alleged to have known about and covered up a sexual assault involving people ranked below him in the organizational chart. It's the same thing that made Bowman unwelcome. Fine, you're willing to give Guerin the benefit of the doubt but you have to admit the optics of this are awful.

You know it’s bad when Billy G is the upstanding citizen of the two.

Vanbiesbrouck is not going to allow a little bit of potential scandal get in the way of a good thing. I wonder if Bill Peters would be coaching the team of he were American or whether he would just be one of the assistants.

This stuff won't have any bearing on how USA plays, it's just a situation that seems extremely easy to avoid. Your first GM has to step down due to involvement in a recent hockey scandal, don't make your next GM a guy who is under investigation for his role in a potential new scandal.

So one guy being investigated for involvement in a sexual assault scandal steps aside for another guy being investigated for involvement in a sexual assault scandal?

Regardless of the above, weird choice. He isn't super experienced in management and you'd think someone like Lou or Poile would be a much better pick. Heck, even Burkie. This is a pretty important Olympics for the US with all the talent available.

They allege that the current GM of the Minnesota Wild, Bill Guerin, who was the GM of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and assistant GM of the Penguins at the time, asked Jarrod Skalde to not reveal the reason Donatelli was fired and that the team punished Skalde for having brought to light the incident, putting end to his job under the context of layoffs due to the pandemic
