What thread do you think you're in? heh.

Aside from that the Oilers needed a Kraken goal called back just to get by almost the worst club in the conference. On home ice. You know if Skinner was some ebug that was just in due to injury I could get by it. My PTSD is that Skinner will be our playoff goalie. He demonstrates time and again how much he adversely impacts the club and results.
After a win without McDrai, Kane and Frederic? Come on. You can do better than that.

Stuart sucks like always. I can agree with that.

I'd say coming on here to read about some rumours but it's 60 percent reading crybabies who are upset about the nobody's that we lost and then 30 percent about how we are awfull. We have the best team I've seen and I've watched since the late 1990s. But the internet is for being negative.....

It doesn't matter what management group we have in place. It doesn't matter the IQ, hockey astuteness, or gamesmanship shrewdness the GM possesses.

This is the NHL and Bettman and the board of governors want it this way. What I, you or anybody else wants, outside of Bettman and the board of governors, amounts to an insignificant value because it won't make people interested in professional hockey in Florida. Only winning will do that.

You can win by drafting top-notch players. The secret is "to not give away excellent young players, just coming into their own, for scraps to a conference rival."

By the way St. Louis is only 6 points back of the mighty Edmonton Oilers. Go figure.

Nice job Stan Bowman. Performing an exemplary job, just as demanded by Bettman and the board of governors... which Daryl Katz is one of. Revenue sharing, gaming revenue, and real estate development has doubled the man's wealth.

What were you watching? I watched a devastating benchmark loss to a conference rival followed by a clown show against a cellar dweller of the Pacific Division. Here's a nickel kid.
Jets are our rivals now? Are you still living in the 80s?

That's not a devastating loss. The Oilers came out of that game with 1 point without McDrai. There was a lot of positives about that game and it carried into the Seattle game. Outside of Stuart sucking like usual, the Oilers did great the last 4 period so I don't know what you were watching.

Objectively this just isn't the case and it isn't even close to being the case. Some things are quantifiable.

If this is the best Oilers team you've seen get your eyes checked.

Two things came out of the Winnipeg game. We lost to a rival competing in the Western Conference, it's 2025. McDavid got injured.

The Seattle game was an exercise in ridiculousness. Fundamentally and strategically.

If Skinner sucks it's another write off year for McDavid and Draisaitl. Does it matter how the failure comes about, does your excuse, blaming a single player above the rest make it more palatable? Huge disconnect from the big picture.

If McDavid or Draisaitl have lingering injuries we are first round fodder. But as long as you feel good and everyone is blindly positive... :thumbu:

I understand you're just doing your job but the dream is coming to an end rather quickly.

Why does it matter if we lost to Winnipeg while missing 4-5 players? If we face them in the playoffs with everyone being healthy, we would be favor to win that series.

I mean if you take out every team's best player or two, they would be first round fodder.

If you came to read about Rumours, there is a rumours thread. If you didn't want to read about negative stuff, the "Biggest Disappointment" thread should not have been on your stroll through the boards. :D

I don't think player turnover is the issue. Even Cup winning teams see a decent amount of roster turnover. This the way of the salary cap world. The problem is which players are you picking and how/with whom are you replacing them with. If the 7 players from last year's roster dropped were named Henrique, Ryan, Janmark, Perry, Ceci, Kulak, and Desharnais, we'd still be one of the best teams in the league in terms of skaters (f*** this goaltending tandem and more importantly f*** Jack Campbell), including some addition by subtraction pieces like Henrique and Ceci. Unfortunately, the players we lost were Holloway, Broberg, McLeod, and Foegele, all of whom are significantly than any player we acquired this year besides Walman. Instead we kept some of the very worst players in the NHL like Henrique, Janmark, Ryan, and Stecher, and added Skinner and Arvidsson's useless bodies to that pile.
Walman had one great game, has looked fairly good in the rest. I'm taking the much younger Broberg over him every day of the week.

We should have moved the magic Kulak at the beginning of the year and put Kane on LTIR. That's all it would have took and I said as much.

He was our best prospect in a decade. Its not like he was some kind of nothing. He's already fan favorite player in STL and at age 23 already the third best player on a team. No slouch.

No credible org trying to contend loses a player like that to an affordable offersheet. Dunce management once again is hard to get over.

How good Holloway is, it just doesnt' seem to be understood in context of 2025 and being overshadowed by Drai and McD. If this is say 1995, or even 2010 Holloway would be the best young player on a team. Like he is now on an NHL team. Just sadly not this one. Its a huge loss. Holloway would be third in pts here too. Not just in STL.
He was injured all the time. And no, he wouldn’t have the same opportunity in Edmonton.

The biggest disappointment this season are us fans.
We just cant be happy.

PS. sadly one of the nobodys has as good chance of making team Canada Olympics team as Hyman and the other may challenge Ekholm for his spot on Team Sweden.

I think he’s saying the most disappointing thing is the fans too.

Holloway isn't making the Olympics lol. With goes with Broberg.

The man should show Desharnais some respect

Regardless of how you feel it went down with management this summer, Broberg, Holloway, Foegele, Mcleod are all notable players. Good players.

Now if you think overall the team is better, or it was not managements fault, lets not pretend these arent pretty damn good players that were key parts in our projected future and big parts of our past.

Does anyone see us actually beating the Kings, Vegas, Winnipeg, and Florida in a series with Sewer Stinker in our net? Like how is that even possible?

Kinda like how we have been beating LA in previous playoffs.
Skinner just needs to do his part and defense will need to step it up as well

Biggest disappointment for me is management. Bad decision after bad decision. Hindsight is 20/20 but this has been going on for years. Does our owner listen to the OBC and override our management's decisions or does he just override decisions himself? Is the rest of the management truly incompetent? If so, why is there no accountability? Why do so many employees keep their jobs for over a decade with poor or substandard results? If you put a monkey in charge and he screws everything up, do you blame the monkey or the person who hired him?

Sure he would. Why wouldn't he be parked on Drai's line THIS season. look at the dolts Drai has had on his line this season. Two most common linemates being Arvid, Podz, both doing nothing. Holloways stats ALONE blow those two out of the water.

Why wasn’t skinner on his line, defence breakdowns.

They also play a different game.

Try again. Holloway running stellar numbers and per minute best on team numbers in any category is +16 on an average club. As a 23yr old. He's already a FAR better player than anybody that the Cat (Jackson) dragged in. Imagining several reasons why the Oil were OK losing this stud is basic copium and of the variety that allows this org to be as generally very poor at roster building as it is.

"Oh we traded Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle" Fans lining up to "oh thats OK" we got Lucic...lol

Its a given that Holloway would have some initial hiccups playing in the NHL in first 60-80 games or so. Almost any player does. But his pedigree and draft info was he was an all round player that took no shortcuts and was just solid in every facet as well as being strong. When this guy rounds into his man peak he's going to be a force. PPG range player already.

if we are going individual player, I'm going with Arvidsson. The guy is a 4 million cap hit, and was supposed to be answer in our top 6 on the wing. He has not been close to being what they thought he'd be when they made the signing.

Stu would be my 2nd choice, I was hoping for him to build on his strong finish to last year's playoffs, and he has not done that, he's been far too inconsistent.

combined. Oilers management messed up on this guy. It's gonna sting for a while. Hard to dislike the guy, he seems like a good guy, as long as it's not against the Oil, I'm cheering for this kid.
