Big Swinging Nick - A Suzuki appreciation thread

He's the 10th center in the league point wise and plays a very good 200 feet game. How is he a 2C? What the hell is a 1C for you? You realize theres 32 teams in the league so by definition there HAS to be 32 #1C... But Suzuki isn't one of them right?
He's not 10th, he's 7th for points. Necas and Sam Reinhart are wingers even though they are listed as center.

Top center in the NHL so far this year.

1-Mackinnon
2-Draisaitl
3-McDavid
4-Eichel
5-Scheifele
6-Crosby
7-Hugues/Suzuki

Should also in there but were injured : Matthews and Barkov

the guy is so underated, even in Montreal. Many people claim he's only a good 2nd line center. He keeps getting better and better and the guys playing with him too. He's a quiet leader and top-notch defensively. No, he'll never wow you with his supreme skills but he does everything well.

All I remember him doing in the game was letting Drake Batherson skate right up the middle into the slot and score.

That’s the issue with having an enforcer who plays defence.

You don’t have to answer to a dumb comment by another dumb comment. Arber is good enough for third pairing, he’s mobile and the decision making has improved.

If he was available 20 teams would bid on him. Make the usual shit stirrers quite disciplined against the Habs…

To be fair, you can put anyone you like as 1C, it doesn't turn them into a "1C".

The term is usually used to refer to someone who's "in the right chair" as a 1C.

He is 52th most paid forward.
20th most points for forward.

I think he is a good return of investment.
More context: Suzuki is currently 20th overall in points and is younger than everyone ahead of him. Hughes, Stutzle and Raymond are younger than him, with slightly fewer points.

Including Suzuki, 23 forwards are 'on pace' for 82 points. A few players are PPG based on fewer games.

...dunno; the old Tomas Plekanec head-snap was a pretty Epic move, even when the stick missed him by a foot... :biglaugh:

He was just airing out the turtleneck!

Excellent Captain for the Habs. Good on offense, good on defense, clutch when it counts. Heart of the Habs.

I think that's what impresses me most honestly, steady mentality and composure to go with all the 2-way tools. Takes a strong mentality to be the C in MTL.

I think him and Larkin are neck-and-neck in the 'most overlooked high end two way C' convos. Maybe not for much longer for Suzuki.

Yes he was. Didn't have a very good game.

He's missed practices recently due to the hip injury he suffered during the Four Nations.
You know who else is injured? Anderson who scored 2 goals in that game. He's been missing practices for therapy days for months.

Gotta love the hatred between us Habs fans and Sens fans, it's good for the sport and promising for the future since both teams rebuilds are at about the same spot. But ya... Ridley Greig can f**k off
Not the same at all. Sens rebuild has been over a few years with Yakemchuk the only notable prospect to come. Habs are only in the 3rd year with still Demidov, Hage, Fowler, Reinbacher and a few more to come.
