You have a point but the real elite (guys like Crosby, Nate) are always going to provide their own accountability effort wise.
I know, but laffy isn't the same. That's what I was saying in the first post you replied to. Laffy is a product of his environment, he doesn't dictate his environment. Aka if his environment is high work ethic and effort based then he will come along, but he is not a business driver like Nate dogg or Crosby. Thats my point

I respectfully disagree. I think Laffy is a product of Laffy. His effort is not dictated by the players around him nor his environment. His effort is dictated by him.

Mika was t-2nd in the league in scoring during the month of Feb.

Realize it was a truncated schedule because of 4 nations but he's been good for a while and the points came for him last month (as they normally do when someone plays well.) Ranger fans love to beat the drum when former players go on heaters over small sample sizes, so I'm going to take the opportunity to do the same for someone who is still here and has caught a ton of shit this season.

I am astonished at the level of hate he gets compared to Panarin who pretty much gets off scot free from 90% of Ranger fans. Mika has been very productive when the games have matters where as Panarin has been the definition of a shrinking violet. This current stretch is pretty much a microcosm of their tenures are NYR players.

Mika has to go this summer just from a roster management perspective. I'm glad that he's playing better because it's going to make him a more attractive option for other teams. He's straight up become the forward version of Rozsival in these parts.

They need to find a way to be rid of Panarin ASAP. Don't care what it takes. If he says no, make the Trouba situation look like you were giving Jacob a handy under the table in comparison.
What a f***ing ridiculous way to make a point. So Zibanejad is getting an absolution based on two weeks (you realize that if you subtract 2 weeks in Feb you get two weeks of play) production driven by getting Miller attached to his hip?

How about the fact that Panarin contributed over 20+ more points during from the start of the season through end of January that at least has Rangers on the bubble - the hole the team got itself in largely due to play of Zibanejad? You harp on Panarin’s reduction in his production in his career regular season. Can you tell me how far off Zibanejad has been of his average (I’m not even saying his 90s point pace) through January? Two f***ing weeks in February!!!! Wow. f***ing insane.

PS. Call out Panarin for his playoff performance all you want - we all know it’s your thing. Zibanejad getting absolved for where the team finds themselves in his supposed leadership role in the process? Ridiculous

It should be, but it isn't.
Don't you feel that is making an excuse for Laffy? If you played in a high school or college game. Did your effort depend on who else was playing on your team? Laffy is a pro. He should be giving as close to 100% as he can more often than not. He also is a young guy. He should not get outworked by older guys. I was really impressed with Laffys increased effort last season. He may have been our best player in the playoffs and to start this season. I always give him credit when it is due but I feel like he missed a chance to really build on last year. The skill is there. The size is there. We just need the dog to be in there.

Mika deserved every plate of shit that was thrown at him for October-December.

Doesn't change the fact that Panarin has been lukewarm for most of the season (really 3 of the last 4) and virtually no one has said a god damn thing. Since the beginning of this calendar year one of them has massively outplayed the other (in a time frame when this team kind of got themselves back into it) and you'd never guess who it was based off of the comments made about either player.

This is a place that loves players who perform in big games and yet we have a big money guy who has been donkey balls in those games and gets a free pass despite coming up short when they need him once again.

Meanwhile, we have another player who has actually put up numbers in the same exact situations and gets dunked on relentlessly.

This wasn't a plea to keep one over the other (they should both go) but to point out the absurd double standard that is applied to these players.

Good post. I agree they both need to go simply because they don't possess the make up it takes to win in the playoffs. And I'm not taking about putting up points. Neither one of these guys can get to the dirty areas or has any interest in playing hard nosed hockey. Plus at their ages, they're both headed for steep declines...we've already seen big glimpses of it this season.

Again Zibanejad has finally started to produce points in two weeks worth of games so he’s being dunked on absolutely deservingly. Through the games prior to Four Nations Panarin has been on his normal pace of over the PPG. And if you think that Panarin hasn’t been dunked pretty much as much as Zibanejad you’ve sorely mistaken.

Yeah let’s count on Zibanejad raising his game in playoffs only whoops there won’t be any playoffs because of him actively contributing (as it’s said here) to not getting there in the first place.

You're trying to argue with me about the wrong thing. I agree with you that you want everybody to have their own sense of pride and motivation, but just because we want him to be that person doesn't mean that he is. I'm not saying that that's okay, I'm saying that that's for the current situation is and it has been for the majority of his career. I don't know why you're arguing with you about this. I'm not saying that you're wrong I am saying though that this is what it is right now

I didn't realize I was coming across as arguing. Please keep in mind you can't hear tone of voice online. My apologies. I thought we were just discussing not arguing. Sorry if it came off aggressive.
