With the 4th overall pick they have to get one of Frondell or Hangers. If they go Desnoyers they better know what the f*** they do. If O'Brian or McQueen is still available in the late first round you have to add them too. Same goes for Mrtka. Too much potential.

But to be honest I can see them package the other two firsts for immediate help. Beniers from Seattle or Bourque from Dallas for both picks and a roster player or something like that. I've read somewhere they may be available for the right price. Don't know why.

They will sign a veteran goalie cause they f***in have to.

If they opt to use all three firsts I'd love to see realistically one of Cootes or Nesbitt added. The other one could be used, if still available, for the towering Chinese defender. I believe he's called Simon Wang. Shoot for the stars.

If there's an opportunity to bring in a top talent without overspending you do it. Keeping the team bad just for the sake of it would be stupid.

Don't want someone like Marner, Ehlers or Connor though. 5 years ago I would've taken all three, but now they're close to 30 and all three of them have probably peaked this year.

1. BPA at the draft day
2. Bring goalie - not a superstar who’s seeking big money. With above-league-average goalie even this roster could be in playoff race in the East
3. Top-6 C. Dreaming about Matty Beniers or Mason MacTavish…
4. Tbh it’s already be good, but best case scenario - add big top-4 defensive D. Not too old. Dylan Samberg is my guy.

Samberg would be a great target. Lovely player.

Mavrick Bourque is the guy the offer sheet of the send any out. Second round pick comp salary has no chance of being matched and I’d gladly trade a second for him. No way he’s in Dallas next year with their cap situation and he’s gonna go off with more ice time.

This the kinda move id like to see. Still too many question marks left for them to make the high priced trades or signings. If they do those this offseason and get them wrong, they f*** up the whole rebuild.

Id also offer Tippett for Dobson. NYI said they want a scoring winger for him. Id be more okay with a bigger signing if they did a move like that.

Given how daft they'd have to be to make a 1st round offer sheet considering how bad they should be next year, they're absolutely doing that.

The topic as stated is what will they do, not what they should.

I'm guessing just Bennett, but there's part of me that thinks Seguin is a lot more likely than it appears on first glance. Or at least something in that vein.

If they do something outside of the easiest paths, I would guess Mctavish. Loathe the idea. Resigned to pain.

What should they do, call there is obvious, kick the can down the road another year and try to get McKenna by hook or by crook.

What they will try to do is sign Marner, and fail. Then they'll try to sign Brock Nelson after they pivot. And fail. Eventually, what they will actually do is badly overpay a couple old guys, say Granlund and Dvorak, and loudly proclaim the rebuild over, mission accomplished.

They are loaded on the RW. They won't be signing Marner or attempting to.

people already rushing to get back in the PO next year instead of letting all this simmer and you know..actually rebuild
You have to somehow add good players in order to be good again someday though. And when a good player becomes available there's nothing wrong with being opportunistic.

If they decide to tank for McKenna they should trade/buyout 6, 8, 11, 14, 74, probably 71 and 27, literally in two weeks after Stanley Cup finals. And this is impossible without taking back another guys with big (but not so big and long) contracts, who interferes tanking.

I don’t think they will do much. Maybe get a new goalie option. Maybe a smart offer sheet. They have said and I think they will keep to the following summer going big. You at least need a lottery pick for next summer.
