Remember the goddamn Caniac Coach?? That thing used to literally take me from my house in North Hills to the game and back for free. Such things are unimaginable now...😞

But if that is the price for a cup then thats fine
I kind of wonder why someone doesn't just do their own Caniac Coach. Honestly, $20/seat to and from a good sports bar with buds would seem pretty reasonable compared to parking, and it would probably make money.

Is there a reason that doesn't exist anymore? Even during the lean years I saw it get used a lot.

Yes, and that was the goal to slam dunk the hat trick. Hanifin has come a long way.

I distinctly remember watching this and feeling like something broke inside when Hanifin got tossed aside like that. Just sitting there in January thinking of other things I could do besides follow the NHL. The sheer lack of compete around that time was so, so bad. He was still young, but they were selling him as a guy who could anchor our evolution into a contending team, and that play just kind of burst the illusion that any such future was on the horizon.

That play might actually have been right around the absolute low point of the franchise post-relocation. At least symbolically, it kind of summed up the failed rebuild of 2011-2018.

Yeah because they want us to shell out tons for parking. Back then they were desperate to encourage people to come.

Sound like a great business idea...but I could see Dundon cock blocking it. "No busses allowed", etc

Probably insurance and bullshit of someone suing them for something stupid, because people ruin everything.

Regarding the expected goals thing, this game felt off to me as well, @Borsig . Moneypuck has the expected goals at 4.03 vs 3.17 in favor of Vegas. After the first, they showed a stat that scoring chances in the first were 11-1 Vegas. Somehow Vegas had 11 scoring chances even though they only had 10 shots. They also considered Svech's slam dunk 2nd PPG only a 0.24 xG (how can he not score with the puck on his forehand like 1 foot from a yawning cage with no angle?). The Aho and Svech snipe goals were both 0.06 xG. Both good shots that probably should have higher percentages considering the context of the screen for Svech and the super quick puck movement laterally across to Aho. I think a bit of it also was some score effects giving Vegas some more chances in the last 10 minutes.

Nevertheless, this game felt way more "in control" for Carolina than games 1-4, by a wide margin.

To me the low point was a game in Buffalo where Skinner was the only one who seemed to be skating hard. Sabres ran him all game. At one point 2 or 3 of them started hassling / face washing him after the whistle and not a single Cane on the ice came to his aid. It was disgusting.

lol, wife is seriously contemplating this after the ticket debacle. Waiting to hear the numbers.

Just out of curiosity I took a quick glance at ticket prices yesterday . I believe the cheapest Canes game 7 tickets were just south of $1800 while Vegas game 6 tickets could be had for high $600.

Who had on their bingo card that the Canes would turn into the Leafs, where it's cheaper to attend an away game all the way across the country than one at home?

If Vegas won Game 5, the pricing would've been far more even.

To be fair how many times have we been in the playoffs looking at a high expected win trying to fool us that a bad loss wasn't as bad as we thought.

Fancy stats are good, but they all have their own flaws. And when they happen, like the deserve to win meter from Game 5 that had Vegas at 70.9% or Jackson Blake's 1% chance of becoming a regular NHL player, those flaws look comically bad.

You can get upper level corner for game 6 for low $500s now. Absolutely crazy. Travel and hotel will make it add up but those tickets are so much cheaper than I would expect for a SCF potential close out game

When Washington had their chance to win the Cup in Vegas those ticket prices plummeted day of the game. For any Canes fans thinking of going, it's worth it, you'll be able to get in far cheaper than you'd think. In fact, it's probably going to be cheaper to grab a last second round trip flight today, snipe a ticket tomorrow, and be home for work on Monday or Tuesday than it would to just get a ticket for Game 7.

I'll be in the arena tomorrow. They are doing the plaza watching party tomorrow night out front and all parking is free. Should we pull it off, the celebration might make quick work of the demo to kick off the next phase of renovations this summer.
