The 80-cent dollar was something the NHL could live with but now we are creeping closer to where were in the 90s.

This is a case where politics and hockey become intertwined as It will affect the salary cap because HRR is in $USD - The simple truth is this is the lowest the loonie has been since the lost season of 2004-05.

Pierre McGuire fears it might drop to 50 cents

We can't ignore it but let us at least try to keep politics out of this 🙏

Maybe now Canadian teams will actually get fair officiating in their games. :sarcasm:

Doubt it has bottomed out sadly. Two bricks still have to fall, what Trump actually does and when an election happens in Canada. Until then I think it drops lower.

This is why all those projections about the salary cap going to the moon are nonsense. Don’t believe it until it’s official.

Nobody cares what Pierre McGuire thinks about the economy, but I think a lot of us up here are worried that it will continue to drop. I’m sure Brad Treliving and Brendan Shanahan aren’t, so we can look forward to a 13m Mitch Marner extension and an explanation of how it’s a bargain, but such is life.

Nice.
