I get the point of the U23 team...trying to showcase the top young talent. I think it's pretty stupid though. Just let the best from each country go out and play.

The chips sound like a good idea. Hopefully it works out and the players don't find it distracting (by the sounds of it they shouldnt)
My biggest issues are the rest of Europe team which was made only for Kopitar and the fact that if you're U23, you can't make your senior national squad no matter how good you are. Basically robbing Finland from Barkov and Määttä, Canada of Mackinnon, McDavid (if it still stands by 2018), Ekblad, USA of Galchenyuk, Trouba, Saad, Sweden of Forsberg, H. Lindholm & Brodin.

The rumored changes to the World Cup are the worst ideas I've ever heard and will make it even less prestigious than it already is. It should be an important best on best tournament. Gimmicks are for all-star games, not for the Stanley Cup Finals, not for the Olympics, and not for the World Cup.

What changes? The all euro team? If this is just an NHL event, then a lot of countries can't support their own team from NHL players. If the NHL and IIHF workout something where players in other leagues can come over, then I'm sure they could ice entire teams. Problem is if it is an NHL event, there will no interest for other leagues to send their players. This will pretty much be a world cup of North America IMO. USA vs Canada a lot. Maybe Finland and Sweden have a chance too.

Sucks that they are excluding for example Switzerland and Slovakia. Both could put up a solid teams together. Roster doesn't need to be all NHL players for it to be competitive.

Eh I don't really give two craps about the World Cup anyways. As long as they don't take away NHL players from the Olympics, I'm happy.
