Malkin scored 44 points in 28 games when Crosby hurt his ankle in 2008. And swept the ross-hart-lindsay when crosby missed 60 games. Until drai can prove himself a number 1 with a significant span. It is always gonna be Geno
That doesn’t speak much at all to his prime, which would be hundreds of games.

Peak Draisaitl edges this one out for me. Drai also has the longer peak now.
I don’t care for Malkin as a player, and I strongly believe he is one of the most romanticized players in the last 20 years (along with Sid). All of these projections and PPG talking points are meaningless to a discussion on a players prime.

All of that said I think peak Malkin was slightly better. Prime is not very close to me with Drai’s being very consistently elite.

It speaks to the level of player malkin is. 11-12 he dominating a Crosby less league. Dominated the 2012 worlds named mvp. During the 12-13 lockout dominated the khl scoring race. A lot of nhl stars went abroad and the KHL was even more strong at this time. These feats are all without Sid

I posted on the last page about how long Malkin’s prime was. Over a decade.

I also think it’s great that Malkin had a better point % relative to ice time than Drai in Drai’s own MVP season. Malkin was a top 5 player as recently as 19/20

If you are going to say his prime was a decade long I think it weakens his case even more. That means he was very inconsistent and missed a bunch of time in his prime.

He was not even a top 5 player in 19/20 IMO. Possibly top 10 if you want to give him credit for missing games like so many seem to do.
