Not much apples-to-apples to go by at this point, but whats your best guess at who ends up with better overall career?

1.) Connor Bedard - the presumptive #1 overall pick in 2023
2.) Tim Stützle - young forward for Ottawa Senators

If Bedard doesn't live up to the hype he'll have a Stutzle level career

He's supposed to be a guy with a fringe shot at challenging 99/66 (crosby/ovy/mcdavid) level

Sens fan voting probably Bedard.

Stutzle if most things go right will be a 75-90pt forward for Ottawa.

Bedard is looking like a future 100-120pt forward. but things can go wrong and right in different directions.

We are comparing Stutzle with a generational talent now?

Yikes.

I put probably Bedard but I'd put that at like 90%.

Bedard is already good enough to play in the NHL, and I bet he’d be putting up decent numbers already. His release is on par with elite goal scorers in the league.

He was doing stuff like this at the age of 15-16.

Only thing that keeps me from saying definitely Bedard Is the risk that he doesn’t live up to his hype.

So vote Is probably Bedard

Players like Bedard are cant miss and usually near perfect prospects

I get being safe but saying definitely Bedard and then injuries derailing him isnt that bad. If no injuries, Bedard WILL be a top-10 NHL forward at minimum

Everything points to he should live up to the hype but honestly you never know

I agree but, even though he doesn't have the same red flags, I thought drouin would be an absolute superstar topping 100 points more than a few times but bedard seems to be in a tier of his own also stutzle could progress past his preconceived ceiling both scenarios i see as less than 5 percent chance of happening

It all depends on the tier of prospect. All prospects are human and its a whataboutism to argue one of the group ruins it for everyone, but Bedard is certainly above Drouin as a prospect.

Bedard is a tier above Jack Hughes whos a tier above Stuetzle whos multiple tiers above Jonathan Drouin. That level of separation cant be understated

I guess tavares would be a better example elite player still but never lived up to his pre draft hype but bedard as of now looks like a perennial 40 goal 100 point player at the least, to me but yeah mcdavid level prospect

Id argue Tavares lived up to his draft hype but the team he was on was cause for the lack of numbers youd expect, plus he played during a low scoring time vs now

His best linemates were Kyle Okposo and Josh Bailey

Okposo and Bailey weren't terrible, you could do a lot worse.

I voted “probably Bedard” and saw the vote was close. Then I realized the true race was between “probably” and “definitely”. 😂

Well, Bedard won't be joining a good team.

I'll go with the guy touted as a generational talent by people smarter than me. Stutzle has done nothing at 5vs5 so far in the NHL. I'd need an established franchise player - like MacKinnon or Draisailt - to vote above Bedard even this early.

I put probably Bedard, only because you never know if a player will get injured and never be the same. Lots of big time prospects get ruined by injuries (Patrick, Cherepanov, Berard just to name a couple).

Assuming both players have full and healthy careers I can’t see any way that Bedard isn’t going to easily be the better one.

I can’t say definitely Bedard. He’s not played yet in the NHL. Until he’s a good NHL’er, I don’t think it can be definitely. Even then, I think saying definitely is too much.

The results of this poll are really interesting. As of this post the "probably Bedard" and "definitely Bedard" categories are dead even, with the other three options having negligible support. So nearly everyone's certain that Bedard should be the better player, but there's a dead-even split on the matter of probability vs inevitability.

I personally voted definitely as in very high probability -- obviously nobody should vote that it's 100.0%, but if it's 99% in my mind then it's "definitely".

Its always a worry for small players to have shorter careers because if they get bodied by someone they can get really injured. Bedard has the skating ability to probably not have as much risk but it only needs to happen once.

You never know with the lottery system. Rangers won the Lafreniere lottery and were 16th in the league before Covid hit (or 19th in pts%)

They also got Kakko while being 26th in the league (not even bottom 5).
