Best way to get tickets

Travelling from Irleand to visit a friend in NYC in January and hoping to catch the Islanders/Rangers game.

I saw the Rangers play the Bruins at MSG in 2010 and we got tickets as part of a bundle with a broadway show but am wondering is this the best way to go around it? or should I go on ticketmaster etc?

Definitely feel leaving it until I get there is risky considering I'd imagine tickets would be more in demand for a game like this
