Not available in Canada. Theres always VPNs I assume, but it shows that theres just unecessary hurdles.

Also the region stuff is a little weird. So you get a subscription to ESPN plus and cant even watch your local team?
If its shown on a local channel it's blacked out as the league has a deal with Bally Sports(or whatever that local regions contracted provider to show games)

As a jackets fan living in central Illinois I can watch every CBJ game as long as they aren't playing Chicago or St Louis.

Just curious what do you do when they play Chicago or St. Louis? It is like 15% of games on a season.

Can't believe the service can be THAT bad even for the locals.

Would work well for me if I could get it since I'm a habs fan living in Ontario

Although idk if TVA Sports and RDS are considered "national broadcast" so may e those games would be unavailable as well haha

But you made me curious, might look into if its possible for me and what would I be able to watch. High sea is decent, but those streams frequently bug, are super delayed, get shut down randomly, etc.

82 games is a lot of games... I guess less than 15 games isnt the end of the world.

I agree its pretty weird though, where the service caters better to fans out of the region, or someone just enjoying random games. It would be pretty awful for fans within the region

In Dubai it’s nhl.tv.
What I don’t get is why the league had a perfectly fine app that worked on Apple TV two years ago, but now their Apple TV app is useless and only for highlights.
Only option is to watch on an iPad phone or Mac and screen share to TV. Which seems to have swung too far the other way abandoning normal tv.

In Europe they've made some broadcasts available on the betting sites. Sites include at least Unibet and Nordicbet (and Finnish local Veikkaus), I think these are for the Nordic countries or possibly even Europe-wide, not quite sure. The streams don't seem to be available for every game, not quite sure how that works because all the Jackets games have been streaming so I haven't kept up with the other teams as much. The quality is low but decent on a computer non-fullscreen (in fact you can't view them fullscreen, that's probably stipulated on the contractual level or something). Added bonus that it seems to be 15-30 seconds ahead of all the other streams/TV.

No, the act of streaming content online is not illegal in Canada.
It’s copy right protected, it’s a grey area, so wouldn’t be a criminal charge likely , it would be a civil suit, and whatever the copyright holder wants to fine / settle for.

Yes it is, it’s still illegal to pirate streams lol.
The only illegal acts in Canada are hosting the content or downloading the content. If you want to beat your head against the wall defending something other than that, go on, I said my piece and I know it's right.

Sure lol,
I explained criminal court you’re right, civil court you’re wrong.

It works best if you are a fan of an out of market team -- like me, as a Habs fan living in Michigan. I just do not get their games versus the Red Wings or any that are on the NHL Network, as I do not have access to Bally Sports Detroit or NHLN via my TV provider (YouTube TV).

After years of being unable to get Jets games on a smart TV without paying $80/mo for an obscure digital streaming package that included TSN, the TSN app for Roku TV finally became available recently. It is surprisingly good for watching Jets games and bonus for being able to watch CFL, which is not awful at $20/mo ($10/mo introductory for the first few months when you sign up). Between TSN and DAZN for NFL, I’m satisfied enough. SN can f*** off, I’m not going to give them a dime.

ESPN+ is your best bet.

However thanks to blackout BS you'll be able to watch nearly every game except for those that are broadcast nationally and anything in you're specific region.

If you are out of your teams broadcast region it is absolutely fantastic (until they play in your region)

If they could skirt blackouts the app would be perfect, but that never going to happen so..
It's weird. For the Sharks/Knights game ESPN+ said it was blacked out (I'm in Vegas), yet I was still able to watch on the app.

As an FYI geo location for sportsnet premium and TSN on mobile devices doesn't use your IP address but your GPS location. I use Starlink and although I'm technically in the Habs region my IP is in Toronto. This would mean I should be able to watch most Habs games but because of my location I get blacked out.
I got a refund from Sportsnet as they admit to this behaviour.

I've also had spotty behaviour even with a VPN and GPS location changing APP.

I would consider myself a pretty huge Habs fan but I cant watch every game. I would have to pay for several services to get them all and no thanks. Ill listen on the radio and catch the highlights on youtube...

I'm glad you're happy buddy but I can't help but laugh as they are literally both owned by Rogers. They get your money either way ;-).

One of my friends streamed illegally once, next day he decided to get into human trafficking and killing of puppies and baby ducks.

Don't stream illegally, not even once (you wouldn't download a car would you???)
