It was a close race in Pittsburgh but Malkin was better. Moving on to the lockout year (12/13).

Previous polls:
1998 (62% 1 Hasek, 2 Jagr, 3 Forsberg)
1999 (48% 1 Jagr, 2 Hasek, 3 Forsberg)
2000 (72% 1 Jagr, 2 Pronger, 3 Bure)
2001 (33% 1 Lemieux, 2 Sakic, 3 Jagr)
2002 (36% 1 Iginla, 2 Lidstrom, 3 Lemieux)
2003 (52% 1 Forsberg, 2 Naslund, 3 Lemieux)
2004 (23% 1 Forsberg, 2 St. Louis, 3 Luongo)
2006 (31% 1 Thornton, 2 Jagr, 3 Crosby)
2007 (73% 1 Crosby, 2 Lidstrom, 3 Lecavalier/Luongo)
2008 (64% 1 Ovechkin, 2 Crosby, 3 Zetterberg)
2009 (44% 1 Ovechkin, 2 Malkin, 3 Crosby)
2010 (56% 1 Ovechkin, 2 Crosby, 3 H.Sedin)
2011 (58% 1 Crosby, 2 Thomas, 3 D. Sedin)
2012 (47% 1 Malkin, 2 Crosby, 3 Stamkos)

It takes two to tango.
Listen, you’re one of the best poll makers in the game right now, and I’ll be the first to admit that

But you can’t be responding to criticism with “gotcha moments”

Thanks for your appreciation but it was valid criticism from my side. Sometimes one should just wait and see a bit.

Which thread am I in?

8-4 when I voted for Sid but seriously Ovechkin beat up on one division this one is clearly Crosby.

Since playoffs are usually included:

Total points for OV: 58 points in 55 games (1.05 PPG)

Total Points for Crosby: 71 points in 50 games (1.42 PPG)

How can anyone vote for OV?

It’s Crosby then Ovechkin, but I wonder who would be the third. Could be between guys like Tavares, Toews, and Bobrovsky.

Kane would be up there as well. And I think Datsyuk was pretty awesome this year as well. 10th in points and the same amazing underlying numbers as always, but this time without Lidstrom behind him, and playing a huge chunk of his minutes with Abdelkader.

True. Hard to say between Kane and Toews personally but Kane definitely stepped up that year and had a great playoff run to go along with it.

I think this is the one Crosby season with missed time where it’s really hard to argue with. Again, if the point is best player rather than just best season, Crosby played more than enough and stood out more than enough to make it obvious. And his injury didn’t take him out for the rest of the season like 10-11 or cause him to be in and out regularly and a question mark all year like 11-12. He was the best player all year, his play wasn’t abnormal for him, then he got injured and was back for the playoffs. No different than Jagr in 99-00, who lost the Hart to Pronger but was clearly the better player.

Y'all know the answer
