Jaws is the epitome of a movie. I think it’s perfect from start to finish. It’s more of a drama than a horror movie, no?

Alien would’ve been my vote. Also a perfect film that epitomizes a movie-watching experience. It fits the horror criteria a little better IMO.

Its a horror movie because it's a monster movie.

At its basic level it's no different than Dracula, werewolves, etc. A monster comes to town and starts killing people and the town assembles a posse to go hunt and kill the monster.
