Riga>Kladno.
Not totally clear on what being "from a city" means in the context, but I'll assume it means being born and raised in the city (or its suburbs, eg: Markham, Richmond Hill, Etobicoke, Vaughan) and not "general area" cities (eg: Brampton [Nash] or Oakville [Tavares]) for this exercise:
Team Toronto:
L| C| R
Mike Cammalleri| Steven Stamkos| Chris Stewart
Matt Moulson| Stephen Weiss| Cody Hodgson
Andrew Cogliano| Chris Kelly| Jeff Skinner
Daniel Winnik| Brandon Pirri| David Clarkson
Matt Halischuk| |
Ex: Wayne Simmonds
HM: Raffi Torres, Steve Downie, Peter Holland, Mike Blunden, Rich Clune, Anthony Stewart, Reilly Smith, Devante Smith-Pelly, Anthony Camera, Christian Thomas
D| D
Mark Giordano| P.K. Subban
Trevor Daley| Chris Tanev
Carlo Colaiacovo| Dougie Hamilton
Brendan Smith
Ex: Theo Peckham
HM: Derek Joslin, Jamie Oleksiak, Mike Kostka, Ryan Murphy.
G
Brian Elliot
Chris Beckford-Tseu
Andy Chiodo
HM: Eddie Pasquale, JP Anderson, Adam Dennis (if ones that have played for other countries can be included).
Goalies clearly suck, and the blueline is very shallow, but the offense is still there. At least in NHL terms, Toronto still takes the cake, IMO.![]()
Especially if it was before the 1st official draft in 1963 when The Habs got to pick French kids from their own Province before anyone else could touch them!![]()
this is a stupid myth.
Dude, do your homework before you speak. The NHL actually introduced the draft in 1963 because of Montreal's stranglehold on Quebec kids.
The other 5 of the "Original 6" teams wanted equal drafting rights in Quebec too.![]()

Uhm aren't you missing one huge name. Ohh I don't know..JOHN TAVARES! John played his junior hockey in the city so he counts IMO. Either way it's debatable I guess I would include him on the list for Toronto but even without him it's still a pretty decent team.
Is Dave Bolland mentioned? The guy is from Mimico for crying out loud, I'd have him on the Toronto team. Last I checked, Mimico/Etobicoke was in Toronto.

Winnipeg is pretty good too, Patrick Sharp, Jonathan Toews, Travis Zajac, Duncan Keith with James Reimer in net. Plus, Colton Orr and Frazer McLaren to punch faces!
Read the entire thread before posting. This is not about which city has more NHL players, but rather about which city could field the best team.lol, how many players from Riga play in the NHL?
Yeah - exactly. Like a little league world series.
Vancouver might look something like:
Lucic - Nugent-Hopkins - Kobasew
Kane - Santorelli - Yip
Ladd - Renhart - Johansen
Seabrook - Hannan
Hunt - Dillon
Price
LaBarbara
Born/raised in the cities. Montreal could only use Montreal boys. Helsinki, Helsinki boys, etc.
Spezza is from Mississauga...
lol Spezza doesn't even make the cut for team Toronto
