I've tried a lot of things over the years and found the best solution for myself. 60-70% water, 30-40% powerade and a half teaspoon of salt. But I'm wondering what has worked for other people... so please tell us:nod:

Definitely water. There's no need to add sugar or salt to most American or Canadian diets.

water. sometimes I add a splash of lime/cucumber gatorade for some flavor even though I actually really like water. That usually happens when I'm hungover or if I haven't had enough to eat and irrationally think that adding the gatorade will help.

But, nothing really beats water.

I just chug water all day 1.5-3L on the day of the game and then bring water to the game and barely touch it because I'm so hydrated

This sounds about right. When I first started playing and didn't drink enough water I was shocked at how little a few of my teammates drank during the game. I'd be chugging it down like mad. Now, I drink roughly 80-100oz a day (even regular days) and I only sip on water occasionally during games. I DO sweat a lot though so I'm constantly needed to replenish my body.

Coconut Water. I feel way better during and after since I switched from Water to Coconut Water. I drink 1L per game.

1/3 sport drink, 2/3 water

That's basically my preferred method as well. I added the salt because apparently, I sweat out a lot more salt than most people do (which I thought wasn't true until I found a college study that explained it recently, some people can sweat out 5x more salt than average), and it has helped a whole lot for me.

This!!! :handclap: It's so delicious and sadly equally as expensive. I can't justify buying it for every skate but coco water is amazing stuff, mother nature's original energy drink. Almost no one knows what it is, I bet guys would get a good laugh if you showed up with a coconut and a straw on the bench...

Same here although I still drink during the game. I need to drink more water in general and eat a bit better. I make sure I do on game days but I'm trying to make it an everyday thing

Smart Water or another brand of bottled water with electrolytes. It's what I've been doing for a long time, part of my routine.

water before and during, coconut water or protein shake after. Or beer.

You could always try the powdered stuff. Just mix it in with water and you're set. Way cheaper, same nutritional benefits and taste.

Water primarily. Occasionally I'll use the Gatorade powdered mix to make a heavily diluted sports drink. (use about 1/3 the amount of suggested powder for the amount of water)
