boston/montreal-probably will be a war and atleast a 6 game series
always play hard and will take alot of out both teams

now if columbus wins this might bring out the best in nash
there was some bad blood and nash played angry even dropping the gloves, if we get that nash all is good in ranger land

plus columbus wont get past round 2 regardless, this round is there cup win and will continue to get better next year

west teams tear eachother apart

if columbus wins then this will all happen, and would give the rangers a legit shot at the finals, agree or disgree

i know its early, but one has to atleast ponder what the next round might look like, you really dont look at who we might play in the next round?

by the way, whats the deal with nash and columbus, anybody heard any rumors on what went down

they was some strong bad blood between him and his former mates

Have to beat the best to be the best.

Best to stay focused and win one game at a time. Starting tomorrow.

except, if we were actually a contending team we wouldn't need our best forward to play his old team to actually play hard.

Well, he's actually not our best player. We have a lot of good players, and he's up there. But nothing hangs on him. Different from previous seasons. This Rangers team is probably the best in the world right now, but this board doesn't understand it. They'll win the cup.

Could play anyone with an unknown kid goaltender standing in for the injured vezina holder and get bounced.

Got to beat the Flyers, tomorrow

for the sake of discussion... I do think Rangers CBus would be an epic series. But I certainly wouldn't be pulling for CBus over any other team. I might even admit to wanting to avoid that team if the beat the Pens.

Doesn't matter. I have no confidence that this team could take advantage of it anyway. No killer instinct. Can't score when it really matters. Another year of heartbreak coming up.

columbus would be a "sexy" matchup

history with nash trade
john davidson former ranger annoucer
dubinsky facing old team
bad blood between nash and former mates

Agree with everyone else. The best case scenario is we win the next two games with no injuries and proceed from there.

Our top scorer is playing like ****, our goalie is playing like ****, McDonagh has one arm, and we're about to play another 7 game series. Not seeing the positives.

This. Sure, it's great that Boston and Montreal will beat eachother up and that Columbus has no playoff experience and that Pittsburgh has fleury, but the rangers need to fix their problems first.

columbus would be a "sexy" matchup

1) history with nash trade
2) john davidson former ranger annoucer
3) dubinsky facing old team
4) bad blood between nash and former mates

1) If Scott Howson dresses for that series, it will be epic!

2) This without question! I could see the historic Potvin chants being altered for this one.

3) Yes. (non-sarcastic typing tone)

4) If the bad blood occurs between Nash and his formers teammates, we will be getting it on both ends! (hint: a few of them came with him)

In four playoff games with the Jackets, Nash had 3 points for 0.75 ppg. In 16 playoff games with the Rangers, Nash has 9 points for a for 0.56 ppg. In 15 games with HC Davos in the Swiss league, Nash had 11 points with a whopping 9 goals for a 0.73 ppg.

Taking this into account one could say that Nash plays his best hockey across the pond.

Time will tell...

They could make a run, or they could fall flat on their faces and get eliminated. The difference between this team and teams of recent is the fact that they have the ability to put goals up on the board. They can run and gun when they need to, they can play sound defense when they need to.

I think they will go deep, but a Cup run is never a guarantee. This team is confusing, they can be world beaters or they can be absolutely horrid, that is one of the most entertaining factors about them

Agreed, and you have to be lucky and you have to get the right match-ups... ;)

Seriously though, I am not quite sure how we match-up against CBJ vs Pittsbrugh. It feels like both could give us problems, but also that both potentially could fit us pretty well.

No doubt however that I rather NOT play Boston. We are a bit of a scew-up still, but potentiall we can beat Phi, CBJ/Pitt and Montreal. I would be very suprised if we sent Boston golfing. That is the one team in this league that will be able to pressure our D's the hardest, and unless our Ds are able to provide our forwards with passes that opens up the ice we looses our entire game-plan. Looking at Chicago for example, they have Keith who is great under pressure and Hjalmarsson, Oduya, Leddy and Rozsival who just have been doing it a much longer time together than our guys who is just barely a season into playing under this system.

Montreal is a decent team, but we shouldn't read too much into the Tampa series. I saw Tampa a couple fo times late in the season and another couple of games against MTL, they were just not good at all. Not even close to being good enough to make a run in the POs.

We are bit of a screw-up team on the ice, its probably partly mentally after a rocky season and partly because we still don't got all aspects pinned down on the ice.

And teams that got a tendecy to screw up gets eliminted from the Stanley Cup PO's sooner or later, so we gotta get all that to come together in a hurry if we are genuinly going to make a run for it.

Best case scenario:

We come out strong in game 6 and win the game with no injuries.
