It's reasonable value. Hudon has skill. Charles had 30 points in 72 games last year. That's a reasonable rookie season on a bad team. He's just not been able to do enough to overcome the log jam of wingers this year. He's not capable of playing the type of role a typical 4th liner does, so he's wasted there.

According to Elliotte Friedman, Habs GM Marc Bergevin is asking for a middle-round pick for LW Charles Hudon, who is currently in the doghouse.

Anyone interested?
I've always thought Hudon had value. I'd say they get their ask, but I'd short sell him early for a 5th so I could use the pick at the deadline to upgrade.

He's been either scratched or on the 4th line all year and hasn't earned his way off it. 4th or 5th isn't unreasonable.

After Stone and Duchene are traded, Ottawa should take a flier.

Exactly the type of reclamation projects they should fill their roster with while rebuilding. Someone who once flashed potential, but was buried in the depth chart.

I think he'd be a good fit there. He wouldn't be 4th line and would have some breathing room to play around a bit

Exactly why Ottawa would be a good destination.

Can he play both wings like his elite prospects profile indicates? If not, i'd give him a chance on 3LW if Dzingel isn't traded (ahead of Boedker) , or audition him on the second line for the rest of the year.

If he can prove he's more valuable than Boedker or MPS..keep him. If not, just let his rights expire.

he can play all 3 forward positions but LW is his best and most used spot. He needs to get stronger, quicker and improve his skating. Smart, skilled, has some grit.

He can play both wings, he played primarily LW last year when he looked better.

Not only is he buried in the depth chart, but Montreal is just not a good fit for the style of play he has. He's a below average skater which combined with his size is his major setback. There are plenty of good qualities in Hudon and last year he showed he can use them at the NHL level but all Habs lines are highly speed driven and he's just struggling to keep up with the pace. That and the fact that he hasn't got any consistent usage.

A fourth would be nice, seeing what we got for all our waiver losses this year. Heck even a 5th would be ok. Something is better then nothing.

We could trade Hudon to Ottawa for a 2nd + a solid prospect. Can't do any favors to division rivals, right Dorion?
