AVS need a top 6 LW and he kind of lost his place in Edmonton when they signed Lucic. He's having a rough year offensively so far but I think he'd be good with the AVS. Oilers would have to take some salary back.

Technically Pouliot is still in the top 6 and Lucic is playing on the 3rd line now, but yes he is our 3rd best LW at the moment and has had a rough start to the year. Of all of our skilled players I'd definitely say he is the most available, I could see us doing Pouliot + a throw away prospect (we are close to the 50 man contract limit) for John Mitchell + a prospect we like, but I don't really know Colorado's prospects very well beyond the high end ones that are clearly too much.
I don't like the idea of an Iginla swap at all, just a worse player at a higher cap-hit. We have had a good start to our season no reason to intentionally make ourselves worse for a marginal pick.
The Oilers have already shipped Hall and Yakupov out since last season so their wing depth is getting pretty thin. We don't need to do any "favours" for other teams by shipping out useful roster players for futures or their junk. The offense will come for him but for now he's playing tough minutes with RNH shutting down the oppositions top linesThe thing with Pouliot is he's signed for 3 seasons (including this one) at 4M per and it's risky, to say the least. He has history with injuries, he's 30 already and he's having a rough start on top of that. That's a 4M/year gambling for the AVS, who are already struggling with the cap but are in dire need of top 6 players.
Keep in mind that the main reason why the Oilers would want this trade would be to get rid of Pouliot's contract...the return would be minimal unless they'd agree to retain salary.
Iginla straight up, maybe toss us a mid-late round pick because Iginla is a UFA at the end of the year and Pouliot signed through 2019.
Iggy is RW and he's not playing very well.
I'd rather Edmonton look for a younger bottom 6 LW.
Pouliot+1st+Jones for Barrie? Not really interested in shipping out useful players unless it fills a need while he team is clicking.

hahaha common man you cant honestly think that is remotely close.
Meh, there isn't really much else on the Avs roster that entices me to wanna strip away from the current lineup. The 1st and d prospects are really the only valuable assets we have that are expendable.

you dont get tyson barrie for expendable assets, thats not how it works.
OP wanted Pouliot, the Oilers are having success for the first time in years. The only way that tinkering with the team makes sense right now is if we are clearly adding a better player. I wouldn't make that offer for Barrie but he would be the starting point for any player the Avs wanted from us as EJ is a non starter. At this point in the season every team is only looking to get better, no one has thrown in the towel and is willing to trim their roster for futures.
The Oilers aren't giving up one of their top PK'ers for junk like Iginla. Thats how it goes.that's a fantastic story. you don't get top players for spare pieces. you want one of colorado's great talents, you give one of yours. thats how it goes.
you cant "tinker" into another teams top players.

Ryan O'Reilly was had for spare pieces, like I said I am not the guy making a thread asking for a player from the Avs. I was just stating what it would take to acquire a good player from the Oilers when we are enjoying the most success we have seen in a decade.

Spare pieces may have been a wrong choice of words by the poster but magic beans is what he was traded for. Which is what a 1st, and C.Jones equate to"Spare pieces"

Tyson Barrie is a "great talent"? He's a fine defenseman, but...
As for the thread, I somehow doubt the Oilers are looking to dump Pouliot's contract.
