Bennett hit on Stolarz (no supplemental discipline) MOD WARNING IN POST #621

"Intent based on the player who did it" which is exactly what I was talking about with what was whined about whenever it was Kadri.

Yup, f*** me for tryna be the voice of reason in a sea of delusion

Well, if Kadri was suspended based on that criteria (I think his suspension length for the Bruins series was ridiculous and it would only happen to him), then this seems like a good time to show some consistency.

And at what point do you stop giving the player the benefit of the doubt is the question I guess, there are a handful of players who do a lot of accidental things that end up being dirty and dangerous.

Fairness and consistency are what people ultimately want, I don't think you can prove intent here, so he likely won't get suspended, but it is always the same players with these borderline plays, no one says a word about suspension (some still would) if it was Barkov.

As a Leafs fan I am kind of on the fence with this one. I think if it's anyone other than Bennett, Marchand or Tkachuk we just brush it off as an unfortunate play. That said, there is a clear history with Bennett in particular that would suggest he knows exactly what he is doing there. There was also the overhead angle of the play that looks like Bennett follows through with his elbow that kind of furthers that narrative.

Not to celebrate head shots, but there might not be a better player in the league who can disguise hits to the head better than Sam. His sucker punch on Marchand last season was one of the most egregious and well timed cheap shots I have ever seen. If he can accurately time a headshot like that and disguise it so brilliantly as "bracing for a hit" all while being at full speed, then the play towards net last night is just light work.

Going to be really challenging to determine intent to injure with full certainty unfortunately. I can't see a suspension occurring as a result.

Like previous posters have said, I think the Leafs players need to police this themselves. If I am being brutally honest with you, I think I'd rather the boys just step up and make Sam's life a living hell instead. What's a 1 game sussy gunna do anyways. Show up to game 2 with a clear objective to run him through the glass every time he touches the puck. Fighting rarely happens in the playoffs, but I'd love a Domi for Bennett trade off any day of the week.

Either way. Don't worry about bitching and moaning about what penalty or suspension there should have been. Go out and get your own retribution. Police the game yourself, because the league has never shown they can do that with any level of consistency

I don’t see any supplemental discipline happening from that, at most the refs could have given Bennett 2 min pen for goalie interference. Bennett was trying to get under Stolarz skin on the play, he plays on the edge. Hopefully Stolarz is fine.

I said before the series started, Leafs better be ready for a physical war with the Panthers, Panthers play that physical game on the edge similar to the Blues. This won’t be the only example Leaf fans are going to be upset about, there will be 1-2 examples per game of physical play on the edge. Get ready
That's doublespeak for a penalty that subsequently injured our goalie.

The effects were accidental, the cause was intentional.

As a Dolphin fan I heard every sports organization trash the dolphins for not pulling Tua in a game he was concussed.

Stolarz was left out there for 10 min after taking a puck to the dome.

Poor job from the spotters and the Leaf trying to cover up.

Hopefully the league investigates the Leafs and penalties should come.

Leafs fans on twitter seem to care so much about player safety, they should not have an issue with this.
LOL what a take

The hypocrisy is hilarious

Do I think Bennett was trying to concuss Stolarz? No. Do I think he wanted piece of him yes and he got it.
This exactly, Bennett most certainly wanted to make contact with Stolarz who was in the crease. You can see Bennett move his arm out to initiate contact.

Sam is like Tom Wilson and Matt Tkachuk in a lot of ways including making contact look incidental and hoping that the official does not blow the whistle.

100% Sam did this intentionally
