Or course, I’m not saying it’s fact by any means. It’s an exploratory study suggesting a possible new symptom of concussion that could be helpful for screening. The IF of the journal is not surprising given it’s a survey based study.

I didn't see any of the second statement, so won't comment because that's obviously not true. We need every possible diagnostic marker for concussion because it's the biggest bi*** in the world to diagnose properly. I hope it works in the end.

This thread has very quickly filled up with people quoting this doc and his work and assuming with certainty that he's right. Just wanted the perspective of, don't trust a catchy title and statistics framed to make a grand statement.

If a player plays recklessly enough that they seem to keep having these unfortunate accidents where they concuss their opponents, yes.

99% of illegal plays are not intentional. Despite what most fans think, these guys generally don’t go around trying to injure each other. They are, however, responsible for their actions. If reckless play leads to an injury, they own that. Bennett chose to drive into the crease and caught the goalie in the head. No one forced him to do that.

This kind of play happens on a regular basis all around the league. It wasn't a hit, it was push. He barely touched him with his forearm, not his elbow. Maybe it deserved a 2 minutes, but that's it.

Now people are overreacting because it's Bennett and Storlaz got injuried.

Now the question is: Why does Storlaz appear to have been injured so seriously from such light contact? I don't have the answer. Maybe it has something to do with the puck he got in the face in the first period? I don't know.

I just didn't see any significant force in what Bennett did. He had the puck and was driving the net. Stolarz was hit with such force earlier in the game that his mask came off-I'd be more inclined to believe that was the cause of his difficulties.

I could be wrong. I don't like Bennett. I saw what he did to Knies last year and that was flat out dirty and I know that he's a dirty player who doesn't give a shit if he hurts someone. But I'll stick with my reversal.

Why would anyone get suspended for an innocent little elbow to the back of the head? They can take a couple shots at his mask first and use a clip of him shaking his head to prove the elbow had nothing to do with it.

I don't think the intent was to injure, but I 100% believe the intent was to hit him.

Not sure getting punched behind the ear is fun, even if it isn't very hard.

Bennett has a history of this sort of behavior, he shouldn't get the benefit of the doubt.

Stolarz was on the very edge of the crease, Bennett tries to jam the puck in, strides forward. That's not reckless. Take it on a case-by-case basis.

There was no punch , the stills posted in this thread , and video confirm that.

That's what kind of gets me about the apologists... doesn't actually have to be a super violent swing to hurt when you're not expecting it... anyone who thinks getting elbowed in the head by a professional head-elbower is nothing is very obviously someone who has never been in a fight in their life.
