Apparently there are a dozen+ concussions per game if we blindly trust that totally unbiased "expert". Someone alert the media!

Run the story right after the red wine makes you live longer segment. Then again 2 weeks later after the red wine kills you sooner segment to be safe. Gotta make the public aware!

As I already pointed out, I'm well aware of goalies doing the head shake to adjust the mask, get a better feel. But it being "definitely not inductive" of a concussion in this case can't be said with certainty.

And Stolarz did it immediately after while on his knees without his helmet on.

This is likely where the concussion happened but it’s irrelevant to Bennett’s actions. Stolarz could have very well carried on fine after this shot but the contact from Bennett made the situation much worse.

Personally, I think the headshake thing is nonsense. But if we're going to talk about it, he shakes his head about 2 seconds after his helmet comes off, before he picks it back up and puts it back on (the self-proclaimed leader in head shaking research apparently missed this, so I don't know how good he is at diagnosing concussions from twitter)

Still… shaking your head is a completely natural thing to do when you’ve just been smacked in the head.

Kind of like how shaking your hand is the natural thing to do when you accidentally hammer your finger. Or rubbing your foot is the natural thing to do when you step on a Lego. This is what people do when they’re trying to induce a quick recovery. How do we know from a video what’s voluntary and what isn’t?

Just going to bump this.

Carry on with your narratives, though!

What was the % in hockey?

Specifically a situation like this.

Football was 92%, seems like it'd skew things a little.

I also question with football if that was the initial concussion since they lead with their heads often.

Looking forward to you scientifically backing it up and not using a study that didn't control for hockey since that study should not be used as the gold standard.

Seems like a terrible study to draw many conclusions from honestly.

We don't. Only way to find out is to ask Stolarz himself, and that's if he even answers the question.

Only other way is if we figure out away to read people's minds, but the technology on that isn't quite there yet. :sarcasm:

Again, random twitter user saying "that is a symptom of a concussion" doesn't make it true

Has it even been reported that he's definitely been diagnosed with a concussion?

Yea, you're an abolute softie if you get a concussion from that contact and start vomiting. Wich tells me maybe something else happened to him, like a puck to the head at mach 10 just a moments before this brutal and intentional murder by Bennet. FFS.
There's a reason boxing/mma don't allow rabbit punches or punching to the back of the head, it's incredibly dangerous.

I get that injuring players is part of the strategy of the Panthers strategy so it's a bad look when it's so obvious and it gets called out.

because it was noted directly after he took a shot to the head. I personally think it was the standard goalie mask adjustment shake, and I can still believe he was concussed from the Reinhart shot. I've watched and played hockey for decades, and Nowinski probably isn't aware of it, but it's something to consider in this one isolated case, because of the circumstances. where are you getting "99/100?" lmao
Here's the thing, goalies are even more likely to do the head shake after a puck to the head to adjust the mask. Its not like beer league where the whistle is blown after a puck to the head, pro goalies have to adjust on the fly (unless the mask falls off).

Even in these isolated circumstances it cant be used, because I bet if you looked at instances of pucks to the mask, most goalies will do that exact thing.

99/100 was an obvious guesstimate, which was probably low

For sure, pushes to the back, stick whack to the shinpads=elbow to the back of a goalies head.

It was brutal for Ottawa when Greig puked after that, was stretchered out and went to the hospital
Leaf commits a penalty and is assigned a penalty. What exactly are you arguing?

The NHL doesn’t want teams reporting concussions publicly so it very well may not be reported as one at any point. Him grabbing his head, puking on the bench, and being taken to the hospital is a very obvious indicator that it is a concussion.

I’m not using a random poster to say it’s a symptom, I’m using the video to show that it wasn’t just Stolarz shaking his head to adjust his helmet/ a routine shake before a face off. It happened in the immediate time after the shot is all.

Absolute joke of a take. It wasnt an UFC or MMA punch to the bare head. It was a light contact with a f***ing helmet on.
