Bennett hit on Stolarz (no supplemental discipline) MOD WARNING IN POST #621

Neutral fan watching this live:

I saw this and thought there has to be more than that hit. Something else must of happened. I was watching it over and over and it looks incrediblely soft and just a weird contact.

Yes I know of Sam's history but to me, he barely hit him here and was just skating in front of the net while Stolarz moved forward
Stolarz got a puck to the head earlier in the head that clearly rang his bell.

Looks like it hit him near the jaw of the mask, which is the worst possible spot on the mask to get hit.

Concussions are scary. My worst one was a dirt bike crash while practicing for an amateur series years back. Guess I went head over, head first.
Supposedly never lost conscious but kept repeating a question for like 30 minutes.

Only thing I remember is "waking" up at a hospital 3 hours later. It was like a camera was running with no film. Zero recollection of the crash or right after.

Years later I learned my vertebrate(C2) is higher than it's supposed to be, probably from that crash per a neurosurgeon review after a CT & MRI.
I probably should have had a CT, saw a GP eventually after school decided several hours later they didn't think it a good idea that I ride the bus home and called mom. Continued to get worse and ended up in hospital a couple of days later. But getting referrals for imaging or to see any kind of specialist is a nightmare in and of itself... but you'd kind of think that'd be the least you would do lol :dunno:

Our schools and health services are alarmingly lax, in the same ward as me was a guy from a neighboring school who got completely knocked out.... the school proceeded to walk him home.

Florida has a couple of back-up dirtbags waiting to take out Woll. Brilliant tactician that Maurice is - all with the NHL's blessing

If its incidental contact like this play then sure. But if its running the goalie as the quote described, which is nothing like what happened here... yikes
I missed the game but read about Stolarz injury and that Bennet was involved. Read much of the game thread to get an understanding. From a lot of posts Bennett elbowed Stolarz in the head. Then I watched the video of what happened. It looked like incidental bump. Not much at all really. I picked the Leafs in five. still do.

Even Chris Pronger said it was a blatant elbow and he would know. It should’ve been a penalty. Suspension probably isn’t needed, but there should have been a call. Simple as that

 I'm in the camp that the puck to the dome was the main cause here, but that "72% headshake predicting concussion" junk is one of the most nonsensical "statistics" I've ever seen. That dude should be embarrassed. How the hell do you measure that? This is fun with numbers. Not remotely believable.

I think it's pretty hard to justify much vitriol on this play. At the crucial moment, Bennett actually pulls his elbow in. Based on the reaction you'd expect him to have pushed out, but that never happens.

This is a weird one. It's genuinely difficult to understand how the symptoms afterwards could come from this. Maybe Dr. Jim Montgomery can weigh in.

He's just hoping and praying Number 41 is okay.

I wonder what the percentage is for when someone stays down, is visibly not well, and later pukes...

Dude is a neuroscientist that specializes in concussions, I'm sure they have symptomatic data they've mapped.

Stolarz appears to do another head shake right before the sequence with Bennett. He might have been trying to adjust his mask, or getting visual on the puck, but it's been pointed out as a concussion symptom.

I thought same thing on Pacioretty hit of Barkov. That should have been a penalty to .Look, the Leafs had alot of powerplays and won.On to game 2.
