Bennett hit on Stolarz (no supplemental discipline) MOD WARNING IN POST #621

Bennett knows exactly what he's doing there and he also knows nobody is going to do anything about it. Even Tkachuk going after Marner at the end of the game there is part of the gameplan. Cats just know how to walk that line which makes them even better. So easy to dislike that team already and now they have Marchand and roid monkey is back next game too.

Berube won't do it but would love to see him dress Reaves for his 1:15 of ice time next game so he can run Bob and throw a few dirty hits on some others. If vanecek has to play ay any time this series that would be a huge boost to the leafs.

I asked the same thing.
It's the playoffs. They are trying to win. Giving Florida multiple powerplays out of bloodlust is the way to lose the game. You make sure you accidentally get Bob or Barkov or Reinhart with a similar play. Possibly when a game is out of reach or another opportune time. And make sure it is a scrub type making the hit. It's the only type of "justice" that is a proportional response.

What makes this extra tough to swallow as a Leafs fan was the biggest muffin call on earth given to Max Domi for “cross-checking” Marchand.

Without exaggeration it’s in the conversation for the weakest playoff call I’ve ever seen.
It was a very soft “crosscheck”, but it was interference :dunno:

That’s a tough one.

Contact doesn’t look very forceful but it’s certainly accidentally on purpose by him to contact the goalie there, there’s no doubt about it. You can see it if you slow it down and he doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt.

However, no one can really say if and how much it contributed to the TBI Stolarz (apparently) suffered, he also took a slapshot to the mask.

Leafs should be pissed but I doubt he even gets fined for that. It’ll be on the players to do anything about it and try to rally around that.
If it were any other player I would tend to agree it wouldn’t get fined, but this is a player who has repeatedly done this and tried to hide behind “it was an accident” thing.

Wasn’t it for the after the whistle bump? And a literal bump, nothing more?

There wasn’t anything else that happens, they make contact at the blue line a few seconds before, but that would be an even softer call, it’s being blow dead offside.

It was just a bizarre penalty to call. Obviously some sort of “setting the tone” penalty.

Unless you have a clip and can point to something I’m missing?

Bennett has done much worse than that. The result is unfortunate and it was dirty but it’s not really worth much more than a 2 minute penalty IMO.

See a couple of posts above yours....

Keep your head up, kid.

I mean Bennett, in the upcoming games.

:sarcasm:
This would be the biggest mistake the Leafs could make. Trash teams like Florida want you to engage in their stupidity. Toronto has elite scorers, want to make them pay? Help them reunite Matthew with his inbred brother Brady for an early summer. Keep scoring on them and embarrass them.

I’m sure the contact was pretty solid even though it didn’t look like much at first. A quick elbow or forearm strike to the head, even without a big wind up, can give someone a serious concussion.

This looks a bit like the old “accidental not accidental” situation. I don’t know that he was trying to send him to the hospital but he definitely was trying to get Stolarz off his game.

He sure made it look pretty fluid and there is a puck battle in front of the net at the same time so it kinda looks like he’s trying to play the puck but at the same time it’s obvious he’s taking advantage of the situation to hit Stolarz.

Tough to see a guy puking after a hit like that and leaving the game.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there was no suspensions for Bennett here. I think we all know what happened here but it’s hard to prove that it was intentional unfortunately. Especially with the angle that we have.

Hope Stolarz will be fine but I highly doubt he comes back until minimum a week or 2 of recovery. If he comes back and his head takes another impact (even a puck) it might take him months to recover properly. Must be handled with care and patience….

The shot by Reinhart did more damage than Bennett
NHL goalies get hit in the mask all the time, though, and Reinhart doesn't have an especially hard shot. That wasn't even a slapper, either. If something like that concussed a goalie then we'd be having goalies missing like half of every season.

This guy knows exactly what he is doing and the NHL should deal with him.
Should be out for the rest of the series.

So annoying to have the best players out because of rats like Bennett.
Hoping the Department of Player Safety will do the right thing might be the more crazier take on this forum mate.

I understand that Stolie goes down at that moment, and I understand the frustration of Leafs fans specially with Bennett, but come the eff on….that wouldn’t even be called in a basketball game, that was softer than cookie dough.
Not even a Leafs fan, but you're watching a slow motion replay, it was a forearm/glove to the side of the head.

Or is it a coincidence that he was puking right after? And before you mention the puck earlier, goalie helmet protection is designed for taking pucks to the head. Very different type of force and impact compared to a gloved hand/forearm.

Panthers are the dirtiest team in the league, this isn't an us against everyone else situation lmao this is loser shit going on, you have guys purposely trying to injure other players and yet Panthers fans think it's cool? Although, when you consider the fact that most Panthers fans are from Florida...kind of makes sense.

And it's beyond this. Tkachuk trying to knee Marner at the end of the game was pathetic as f***. Low as f***.

So, what you're telling us is you have no understanding of concussions.

The brain is fragile, all it takes is something hitting your head in the wrong spot or at the wrong angle, or even jerking your head and boom, concussion. In high school and I was joking around with a friend and she playfully backhand slapped me lightly, her ring hit the wrong place and concussion.

You don't even need to be hit in teh head to get a concussion, you can get a concussion from whiplash.
