It’s a real possibility this is what happened but it’s irrelevant. Looking at who it is and how the Panthers last series went, the league has no choice but to step in with severe punishment imo. Bennett’s intentional shot to his head still caused the injury even if it wasn’t the only reason for the injury.

The mask popping off absorbed most of that. The back of the mask hugs the head though, there's nowhere for the force to go but into the attached element, which is the back of the skull. There's a reason rabbit punches are illegal in boxing.

I play goalie in beer league and have gotten a concussion from saving a wrist shot off my mask from a 55 year old. I can’t even imagine getting hit in the head by anything right after an NHL shot to the face.

This person has a gun shot wound but we can’t be sure that’s what killed them until the autopsy.

Not saying Bennett is innocent and he's definitely skated past the line multiple times but this one seems like there's barely any contact.

He got an elbow to the back of the head/neck. That absolutely causes dizziness and vomittingn.

That’s why it’s illegal in boxing.

It's easy to see why dirty teams and players do this kind of stuff.

Even if by some miracle they are held "accountable", the fine or 1-2 game suspension is a great trade off.. and for some reason the players don't police the career-long rats like Marchand / Tkachuk / Bennett. In the old days they would have got tuned up every other night until they straightened out or got ran out.
