I'll miss Smith the person, but won't entirely miss him as the player. He's been good this year, not as good as last year obviously, but with Vermette being a great PKer, Smith lost all value he adds to this team.

Desjardins is a grinder ... a suitable 4th liner. Ben Smith was a player capable of scoring 10 goals from the 4th line ... and be your number 1 PK guy. You get a little more size with Desjardins and double the hits. I'm not annoyed with the trade ...Vermette was going to take a lot of Smith's PK minutes... but Smith getting benched was a sham.

I really liked Smitty as a PKer but lets face it that 4th line has given us zilch all year. I have no issues with a shake up. Best of luck to Smitty, at least you got your name on the cup!
