Before tonight, Buffalo and Vancouver had the same goal differential. 1 his dead last in his conference while the other has a WC spot.

What it shows to me is that the bottom of these conferences are not as close to the top of the conferences as it may appear, Usually goal differential shows who will be the cream that rises to the top by the end of the season. But It doesn't look like there's any real sleeper teams in the bottom half of the conferences.. Particularly in the western conference.

Kind of a random thread I will conceide, but how do you explain this. Before tonights game they were both at -12.

Do Sabres lose all their game in a terribly close manner? Or vice and versa do Vancouver wins a lot of really close games?

They have similar PK efficiency (only 2.2% difference) but Vancouver has a considerably better PP at 22.5 vs 16.2.

Buffalo has 5 players with 40 or more points. Vancouver has one and it's a defenseman.

Vancouver has goaltending of .904 (Lankinen) from their more frequent start, .889 from Demko. Buffalo most frequent starter Lukkonen is at .897 and second is Reimer at 0.908.

Is the east bottom half teams just stronger than the west bottom half teams?
A lot of our losses especially early in the year have been multiple goal losses when Silovs and Demko were in net, while most of our wins have been 1 goal wins and not many blowout wins.

Canucks forwards admittedly have struggled but the big guns have all missed time and we also just traded our leading points getter in JT.

The defence has seen a lot of injuries and from November to January our save %5on5 was 31st it's been a rough season overall with only Quinn and the depth of our forward group keeping us afloat along with Lankinen obviously.

That being said there's reason to think that things are gonna be ok, the dark cloud has been lifted, both goalies have been awesome of late, the defense has gone from a weakness to a clear strength and the forward group looks to be faster, on the same page and you can kind of feel a shift coming.
Tochett has a system that relies on creating offensive from playing sound defense and moving the puck quickly but until recently mostly because of the Dcorp especially when Hronek was out for 21 games we had one guy who didn't get hemmed in and the team just dumped and chased if the puck wasn't iced.
Now this team plays a fast game because we can actually transition the puck.

I will go on a limb and say these last 30 games we will see the team winning a lot more five one games.

As for the sabres just based on the tenish games I've watched, they remind me of the nucks under Bruce B. Not a lot of defense or structure which leads to goals but not a lot of wins.
Lots of talent and a lot of fun to watch.
Honestly the nucks deserve better and these last 30 games they will produce and win in the manner and frequency most of us fans thought they would and be better for all the adversity

Sabres have one of the best GDs in the league in the 1st period. Top 3 I believe.

2nd and 3rd periods they are at the bottom with Chicago in GD

Not sure how many games the Sabres lost where they had 2-4 goal leads this year and straight up didn't even get to OT to get a point....Once they get a lead they are probably the worst team i've ever seen in Sabres history at holding one.

Do you think Boeser, Sourey are enough of a base to land Bryam and Cozens. I get we add but I think Buffalo would be interested in Boeser as a long term fit.
