I don't understand this. Rantanen has unreal playoff stats and has better game 7 numbers than MacKinnon. Where does this 'he doesn't show up when it matters' come from?Rantanen always rises to the the equation?
If Rantanen always rose to the equation he wouldn't have been traded and would have been given the Drai money that multiple people were reporting that his agent was seeking.
That Rantanen that showed up over the back half of the back half of the series hasn't been seen in Colorado since they won the cup. Anyways, Rantanen isn't the reason the Avs lost the series.
When you watch the those games, and not the box score, you would understand.I don't understand this. Rantanen has unreal playoff stats and has better game 7 numbers than MacKinnon. Where does this 'he doesn't show up when it matters' come from?
So you're telling me he's scoring in the playoffs at 110 point pace but is an overall liability vs the competition? When you watch the those games, and not the box score, you would understand.
This makes no sense. Rantanen is a fantastic playoff performer. Heck, just look at his numbers these playoffs. Imo the Avs problem isn’t the coach. Keep the coach and for management. When you watch the those games, and not the box score, you would understand.
Rantanen, when engaged, is one of, if not the best (yes my biased opinion) wingers in the game. Emphasis on when he is engaged. We're talking Jagr'esque type of dominating from the wing with his size and skill. So you're telling me he's scoring in the playoffs at 110 point pace but is an overall liability vs the competition?
How does that make sense over a 5 year sample?
But what I'm not getting is if he's putting up all these points in the playoffs at a rate as high or higher than MacKinnon and he has better game 7 stats, wouldn't that lead to him playing that engaged type of hockey.Rantanen, when engaged, is one of, if not the best (yes my biased opinion) wingers in the game. The problem is with Rantanen, is that when he is not engaged, it's just straight up bad. Look at the regular season post Avs trade and then now.
Just because Rantanen has more points than Mackinnon in G7's doesn't mean that he has played better than him
And I am clearly not talking about his current form. It's phenomenal. But that engagement has not always been there post cup win in both the regular season and playoffs when he was with the Avs.
