Bednar has to be fired right?

Anyone can do a quick google search, but did you watch the games? Hintz left wide open in front of the net on the power play, Blackwell wheels past a defender to get a shot off and buried his own rebound in OT, Makar gets outmuscled by Marchment and sequin is wide open in the slot. Dadanov (somehow) outmuscled 2 defenders in front of the net in game 2. Harley drops a defender and and gets a wide open look. Rantanen walks past 3 defenders twice, once in game 6 and game 7 and the series winner, while on the PP, Duchene is literally making eye contact with Johnston and then floats the puck front of the crease with 3 sticks in the area.

What would his SV% be if Colorado could play a full 60 minutes in just half these instances? The oilers have Skinner and Pickard in the net, and can get it done against the kings. The team in front of him just didn't get it done.
I watched everything.

Sure, this is always the excuse for every goalie for some of you.

“if the team played better”.

The team doesn’t have quite the firepower of the Oilers, just due to McDrai. That’s why the Oilers won with their goalies having worse numbers than Blackwood.

But I will say, Colorado should have won that series against a undermanned Dallas team.

No Heiskanen, No Robertson alone should have made the Avs the overwhelming favorite.

But blowing a 2 goal lead and losing in regulation in game 7 with 15 minutes left? How does any coaching staff survive this

Dumb....

He didn't trade Rantansn.

Ratansnrn tying goal was very lucky. The penalty call was questionable given gsme situation

It probably isn't, but Sean Keeler from the Denver Post is calling for him to be replaced with Carle
Lmao. I would like to see the Ducks take the chance on Carle but I am also concerned that he hasn't worked a single day in the NHL at any level. Most coaches in the NHL have some experience in lower roles on NHL coaching staffs or the AHL at least.

I have these concerns with the Ducks looking to be a playoff team again. Colorado is looking to make the most of the remaining window years they have with Mack and Makar. Can they really afford to wait out potentially three or more years for Carle to adapt to the NHL?

Seems like people are pushing this idea because Carle has an admittedly impressive resume of success outside the NHL but wouldn't have to move to take the job.

I don't know if Bednar has to go, but it's absolutely fair to say that since the 2022 cup, Colorado has been really disappointing in the playoffs. It looked like the team was about to start a dynasty, and they're 1-3 in playoff series since.
Didn't want to pay Kadri -> end up paying more trying to patch up the hole at 2C left by Kadri, but without succeeding.

Drury’s error had nothing to do with him being a plug, he tackled a guy for no reason. That’s on him and his cursed bloodline.
Fascinating comment considering Chris Drury was one of the best playoff players the Avs ever had who scored a bunch of clutch and borderline ridiculous playoff goals including at least one overtime goal against……Dallas.

Right, then he went to Buffalo and now he’s cursed. Pretty clear what happened. Voodoo.

This is the reason the Avs had to reset. Cap casualties immediately after the cup win.

The Sakic/Forsberg era had the team completely retool itself between cup victories. The Avs had to add depth at the deadline this year, but adding that much almost always messes with chemistry and the team that makes that much change pretty much never wins.

It's so much worse than that. CMac re-signed a bunch of guys and had no cap room left for Kadri. The situation bled into August 2022, he tried to trade Erik Johnson ($6M) to Anaheim and it was about to go through, but EJ had second thoughts and exercised his NMC. And hilariously/tragically, Landeskog went on the LTIR for years, so they would've had room in the end.

Everyone knows the rest. 2nd round pick for Eller; FC for Johansen; 1st rounder to dump Johansen; Byram for Mittelstadt; 1st, 3rd, Ritchie for Nelson; Mittelstadt, 2nd, Zellers for Coyle. Not to mention 2nd and 3rd round picks for Colton and Trenin (respectively). Need I remind everyone, the Avalanche had Kadri and Compher, for crying out loud.
