Prospect Info: Bedard Topic 2

People are just impatient by nature. I think it shows more with some of the younger fans as well. The Hawks were absolute dog shit until I was in my mid 20’s while some of the younger fans grew up with Kane and Toews. Matter of perspective I guess.
living through dollar bill was a nightmare. hoping and praying they would show the Blackhawks on ESPN2 was all we had.

I know it’ll be the new normal but 8x12 for a sub 70 point guy. I don’t know if hockey is ready for that. The culture of hockey I mean. 8x8 get Biz all heated off ELCs. If he takes 8x12 the Bedard love affair nationally will probably be over. He will be criticized heavily and we will be laughed at and I’ll be like 🤷
8x12 could end up a steal in a cap league thats much higher in 5 years, you're betting on his work ethic and desire to get the offensive production from 70pt to 100+ and he's the one to bet on to do it...Who cares what the talking heads think, they'll come back around when the team starts to climb the in standings again

8 years $12m would be amazing. Lock him in for as long as you can. He'll either be worth that AAV soon enough or our rebuild takes a huge nose dive if Bedard doesn't pan out. I'd rather avoid him taking the Matthews route of bending us over every 4-5 years
Biz just doesn’t want to see a 20 year old sign a contract in which the aav is a multiple of his career earnings.

Biggest issue for the Hawks right now is all the Chicago sport teams are pretty bad. Everyone would have better vibes if some other team was in a championship window while the hawks wait out seeing if their prospects are good enough.

This rebuild kinda feels like its Cubs summer 2013/2014 when people were starting to question Theo and he traded Smardzija away and then Baez debuted, they signed Lester, hit on Bryant, Soler debuts, hire Maddon etc and it all kind of came together but for a minute people were really getting impatient with that rebuild even though it was only 2-3 years in and they tore it to the ground much like the Hawks have done

thats how it feels right now with the patchwork UFAs on short term deals and building up the system but we're seeing the future impact players start to show up and just when it feels like its taking too long is when it will start to turn the corner

Yeah in no way are Hawks behind schedule. It would have been nice if Reichel was a hit but he was a guy drafted in a playoff position draft slot so it is what it is. That trade for Jones definitely messed things up to kick out the rebuild time, Korchinski wasn’t even their own pick. Imagine a top 10 pick in 2021 and then maybe lose a little more and pick 4th or 5th in 2022, in addition to the Korchinski pick from the DeBrincat trade. They’re adding another premium draft pick this year who will hopefully be a core piece on a contending team down the line.

NHL draft picks just take a while. They’re drafted effectively as high school seniors. They’re kids and the bulk of them aren’t doing anything serious at the nhl level for multiple years when they become men.

So th news e headlines on my phone had Co nor Bedard as one of the topics..
Hit that and it took me to an article written by aobecguyxat The House Of Hockey ...which said Bedard was facing lots of criticism from Canadian hockey fans for turning down the invite to pkay for Canada with Crosbyvand Cekebrinni who did answer the call.

The writer wrote that he coukd have benefitted in his development playing in the titnamemt and what couldn't he learn from Crosby to better his gane?

Yo be fair the article said Bedard battled through injuries this srason( new to me...we heard nothing about that affected his slump aftercthec4Natiobs break till the final few games of the season as kid re-enforcements entered the lineup the shift from mostly vetscto kids went full force)...but we never heard an injury excuse for that long slump of not scoribg goals after the 4Natiobs break.

If this is true,he geys a mulligan..If that was not the case then it was mental...a loss of confidence as he struggled to keep up with the pace given skatibg speed shortcomings..

So the explanation we got from himas to why he did not joinTeam Canada a at the Worlds was to take the summer to work on his skatibg and conditioning which he AND us Jawksfans felt was hid downfall too as to why he did not post higher offense and better defending g.
We never heardabyrgubg about pkayong hurt.

Nor did Bedard ever provide such an excuse for less than stellar impact on games.

However IF he did have injuries we never were told of then you ask why the Hawks woukd not reveal it during the season and why they did not pull him ifvhe was so hampered...rsoecialky if it affected his skating.

So was this a faxt?Or Is this article making up imaginary stories because they cannot accept the alternative...that he refused to pkay for Canada at the World's because his game had gone off the rails and he did not perform to standards he set for himself.. He wanted to correct those flaws and felt he needed time to work on fixing the skating and conditioning problems so that this coming season he could be in better mode to perform to those hogher standards.

Of it was injuries ...Bedard should have told us that is why he refused the invitation
..buy he gave a different explanation...he wanted to fix problems in hiscskatibg mechanics to get faster and to get better conditioning to survive at peak performance obervthevlong grind.

NOW I am Canadian ..but maybe Canadians who are not Hawjs fans do not understand why any Canadian hockey pkayer would turn down the national not want to pkay with Crosbycand Celebri in.. they do notbubderstand the hogh standards Bedard set for himself abd hos feeling he failed to live upto thise standards...that he had to get Better and the only way was to work on his skating amd conditioning.
