I don't disagree but...we shall see. After a terrific season in the SHL I think Kapanen could help the Habs right now more so than Beck.I think Kapanen will become better then Beck

Your posts remind me of Red Fischer. I miss Red!This is a somewhat indecipherable move to this writer.
I tought the same thing when I saw him live against Utica last Wednesday. He isn't doing much away from the puck. Not enough footspeed/agression. Slick hands though.Roy didn't play like an NHL player this weekend except for the last 40 seconds of Saturday game.
Our Defensive issues are worse than our Offensive ones currently, removing a more defensive focused player is definitely a tank move. They're just going to see what the farm can do in the NHL at this point, like every other year we didn't expect to compete. Not really, it’s more a desperation move, Roy’s been hit lately and Habs are trying to capitalize on it
Because Laine had the “flu” and missed Saturday’s game it’s considered an emergency recall. If Laine is okay to go for the next game, it will simply become a regular recall. Has more to do with counting games towards waivers eligibility for the recalled player than anything. How is it an emergency recall if we send a guy down though?
Same here. The kid has good instincts and motor, but looks very raw. No reason to rush it.Beck looked like he wasn’t ready to me. He got a taste of what to work on. I like this move, I’m not particularly high on Beck. He might end a up a serviceable 3rd liner.
I know you’re very strict about call ups but really there’s a few second year guys that should be looked at in the bigs.Should’ve acquired some depth. Guys from Laval at this point probably won’t move the needle, especially playing 10 minutes a game. Regardless, they’re slipping in the standings, so they probably won’t make the playoffs anyway. I didn’t think they’d win out west. They’ve done better than I thought they would though.
I wouldn't be so sure.Beck is our 4th line center next year. I think his future with us is set.
I'd rather get Roy here so we can see how he does down the stretch. Let's see how he does in his audition.
I also think thisI think Kapanen will become better then Beck
Either way, we also need a 3C for next year. You can't count on Dach to be healthy and consistent, Newhook's defensive game is too poor for a center, and Beck/Kapanen are closer to being AHLers than locks as the 3C.I think Kapanen will become better then Beck
The answer I was looking for. I’m glad they let him work with Vincent for a long stretch. Roy didn’t seem very engaged on his last call up to the show, if I recall correctly. The talent is there but his consistency is an issue. No, he's got another year before he becomes waivers eligible. This is just his 2nd pro season.
Sobering thought about just how much development it takes for an org to get a player ready to play centre in the Show (esp for those drafted outside of the top 10ish draftees, in most years).Either way, we also need a 3C for next year. You can't count on Dach to be healthy and consistent, Newhook's defensive game is too poor for a center, and Beck/Kapanen are closer to being AHLers than locks as the 3C.
could be wrong but i think Kapanen would be able to center our 3rd line next year next to 2 veterans like Anderson and Gallagher but Evans will have that role and Kapanen on the 4thEither way, we also need a 3C for next year. You can't count on Dach to be healthy and consistent, Newhook's defensive game is too poor for a center, and Beck/Kapanen are closer to being AHLers than locks as the 3C.
I think Beck is one of our most underrated and underappreciated prospects. Nothing I saw in his most recent call up convinced me otherwise. Beck was outskating NHL level players and the pass he made that sent in Anderson alone in the Calgary game (a subtle pass between a retreating defenceman's legs to a driving Anderson) was really skillful and only possible because the defender respected Beck's outside speed. I will hold my judgement until I see Kapanen skate and see if he has the skating ability to drive back NHL defenders and create time and space for himself.I think Kapanen will become better then Beck
All recalls after the trade deadline are emergency recalls ... IIRCHow is it an emergency recall if we send a guy down though?
lol! Too true.I know you’re very strict about call ups but really there’s a few second year guys that should be looked at in the bigs.
Gives them some reward/incentive, gives us (and them) a better insight on what they can do and what they’re still lacking to get to the next level.
It’s win/win really.
Roy is playing for his future here, a bad stint and he could be Euro bound. He has the skills to play in the NHL, let's see if the will is there.
Agree. Beck is already super solid and smart and poised for a long middle 6 career. I have him penciled in the roster full time starting next year.I think Beck is one of our most underrated and underappreciated prospects. I know that Beck can.
I've seen Roy enough, he can't handle the NHL game he's just doesn't have 'it'Beck is our 4th line center next year. I think his future with us is set.

Part of the “in da mix” process is to evaluate the young players currently on Habs roster & how they respond to “meaningful games” in the next 20GP, as well as those deemed “close to NHL ready” in Laval to better assess their shortcomings - which is what’s happened w Beck and will happen w Roy.I'll keep saying it but I just hate how this team handles their prospects. Laval has been cooking, why not leave these kids alone and let them cook while trying to win a cup together. I know the Habs could make the playoffs but you could have called up ABB or Condotta. I kept saying over the summer I didn't think Beck would be ready for the NHL, that he needed to bulk up and get stronger (I was told he was "jacked" though and how he would make the team out of camp. He has been good to very good in Laval but I never thought to myself this guy is just forcing his way to the NHL.
We’re about to find out, and more importantly so are HuGoI've seen Roy enough, he can't handle the NHL game he's just doesn't have 'it'
