I try to avoid consipiracy theory stuff, but I swear the NFL and the refs decide when to intervene in certain games. Between shady calls, favoring calls for some teams/players over others, and inconsistency of calls across the boards I can't believe the NFL would just accept bad officiating for the sake of it.

I know this is a hockey first forum so I don't know how closely you follow the NFL, but that so many fans still think of it this way baffles me.

It was over a decade now but the whole effort to get Refs to work full time, be more consistent and accountable was pushed by the league and had that one season have replacement refs. The majority of things people complain about refs and say the NFL or NHL is doing x, y, and not z is almost always because of the ref unions rules. Things aren't better because of their limits the league has of changing some things.
