Bears NFL Talk 103

Feels its only matter of when they finally announce it at this point

As someone who doesn’t live in the area anymore and likes to use a Bears game as an excuse to come into town for a long weekend in the city and for a game….

Well this just sucks. Hard to imagine I’m going to bother going to a game in Arlington Heights of all places. Guess I’ll look for a road game to go to instead.

It would be great to get Jeanty but he won't be around at 10. You'd have to move up.

Was messing with a mock draft simulator and got the universe where Abdul Carter hits someone with his car on the way to the draft. Big win for the Bears

There's been no talk about the draft here for some reason.

Less than a week away, but it appears the Bears will go with Kelvin Banks, OT Texas. I'm personally hoping for a trade down but that as appears unlikely.

Personally I've never been one to get too into the draft and probably won't watch a second of it.

Jeanty - dream pick, but doubt he's there. Hope they don't trade up for him and use a 2nd rounder on the next best available RB there.
OL - would be my next priority at 10, let BJ or whoever pick who they think is the best fit out of who is available.
DL - can't really go wrong in taking a swing at anyone DL depth wise given how weak the DL is.
Warren - probably the only pick I wouldn't love, but if that's who BJ says he wants then who am I to argue against that pick?

So yeah, I'll probably be happy with just about anyone they end up with at 10. Not much intrigue or reason for me to personally watch like usual.

10 + 41
for
5 + 70

Who says no?
If the Bears are convinced Jeanty will likely be a star, then I'd probably do that deal. I'm not sure Jacksonville would be willing to give up #70, though. Especially with #10 being where the draft falls back in many eyes - assuming Sanders doesn't go top 9.

The big thing for me is I want the Bears to find a way to get one of the top 2 backs...in the least painful way possible.

This draft pick value calculator, if it’s even remotely legit, seems to have the overall value of those picks combined relatively close (I think?).

5 + 70 = 1700 + 240

10 + 41 = 1300 + 490

Add another late round pick if that’s what it takes to get it done.

Hard to get very excited about any of the options that will likely be there at #10, and trade down opportunities need a willing partner. Even if Jeanty is there at #10, he's a bit undersized, had a ton of carries in college, and likely to have the relatively short career of an NFL RB. Any other position player taken at #10 won't likely be a starter and may not contribute significantly for at least a year.

I doubt the pick is Banks since there's no report of him having one of the Bears top 30 visits. Bears have had 6 OL in for top 30 visits. All picks last year had a top 30 visit with the Bears except T Taylor. Coincidence?

If the choice is between Jeanty at pick #5 and whatever RB is there at #39, I take #39 any day. And I really like Jeanty. The value in the draft this year is in the early second round. I wouldn't move those picks for anything but a massive overpay.
I agreed but remember last year when Poles wanted to trade up to get Odunze and Cunningham had to talk him down.

I don't mind trading up for a RB, I worry about how aggressive Poles will be in trading up.
