Bears NFL Talk 103

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

BTW - really nice off-season for Ryan Poles. He goes from many of us wanting him axed, to hiring Ben Johnson and then seemingly killing it in free agency and some trades leading up to free agency.

Great offseason for Poles means there's relatively few must fill holes. The opportunities for upgrade I see (other than LT or DE) are RB, DT, and O Line depth. This draft is excellent at DT and good at RB. I'd say getting quality contributors both those those positions, and a LT/LG or DE would be a home run at 10, 39, and 41. At 72, happy with safety, OL, DL, S, or TE. With a trade down I could see something like OL (20), DT (39), RB (41), DE (52), TE (75)

If any of Carter, Graham, Hunter, or Membou somehow fall, them. Failing that, trade down for a 2nd or 3rd+. Failing that, I'd love to see us pick the right guy at a premium position (LT, DE). If that guy isn't there, Jeanty, Warren, DT, or a LT/LG development type guy who will ultimately replace either Jones or (more likely) Thuney works. However, I much prefer trading down.

I am Bears in this year's HF Mock and drafted T Kevlin Banks Jr. at #10 after failing to find interest in trading down

Jones with his injuries is just not reliable at this point

Flip-flopping between Jeanty and Warren. Trade down if the offer is there. Possibly Mykel Williams. Both Brugler and Jeremiah have reported that he was battling an ankle injury the entire season which could explain his relatively unimpressive numbers.

I'm more intrigued by Membou than I am Banks Jr., but I'd need to know that he has potential on LT and not just on RT where he spent his entire college career.

That is why I went with Banks over Membou in mock

Banks projects as an NFL LT and with Bears drafting Wright 2 years ago drafting a guy with ? if he can play LT in Membou would risky

Membou has the higher upside. I think he'll be a perennial all pro if he hits. LT should be no problem for him with his athleticism and measurements.

Bears re-sign Doug Kramer. Guess they like what they've seen with the total ~140 snaps over the last two years.
I maintain that the FB play with Kramer was the best thing Waldron did until he got too cute and wanted him to get the ball. It was a damn near automatic short yardage play, even with a bad O-line and mediocre running backs.

HF NFL Mock is progressing

My picks as Bears

1st round - 10th overall = T Kelvin Banks Jr (Texas)
2nd round - 39th overall = EDGE Princely Umanmielen (Ole Miss)
2nd round - 41st overall = RB Omarion Hampton (North Carolina)
Omarion Hampton should go in the first. My guess is somewhere between 12-20. That would be amazing if he fell to 41, though.
