OT: Bears & NFL Talk 103

there is an argument to be made that this hire will be worse than Eberflus given the talent on the roster...why are they even considering some of the names out there, at least flus coming in was a well whatever we're tearing it down anyway situation, this is not that and they have established coaches talking about the job, like Carroll

Bears gonna trade a second round pick for him
'we wanted the early negotiating window'...said pick turns into an all pro OL

Honestly Titans would be dumb to take a QB this draft

They have other needs more pressing and 2026 draft looks better for QB's. Trade down (Raiders would be likely team wanting to jump up with how awful they were at QB and I can see push for Sanders because Raiders still are all about attention/etc)

This might be the worst qb draft of all time. None of these guys are a game 1 starter and all will be NFL backups

I thought I saw its up to 13 candidates now. I'm not sure why such a wide net needs to be cast. Does that mean they are being thorough or does it mean they don't know what the hell they want? I would lean towards the latter most likely.

And I haven't heard Jon Gruden's name among the 13 either..will be interesting if his name comes up.

And the great Desmond Ridder
Hmm. I keep thinking he went top of the 4th for some reason.

But, mentioned this on another thread. We don't have more than Hurts/Purdy as post round 1 QBs since Dak. Back in the early 201X's we had Wilson, Carr, Jimmy G, Cousins, make it.

But, teams spending a 2 or 3 on a guy, they don't seem to even get a sniff. Levis had a chance, and Ridder was given 2023 to show it but he failed. Hou ran with Mills til they drafted Stroud. AOC in LV will likely get replaced.
Trask, Mond, Mills, among the day 2 QBs who couldn't make it as starters.

I keep seeing online the hate for Kevin Warren's involvement in the coaching search and other aspects of general managing the team. Well, considering the "football guys" have been doing multi-trainwrecks of a job for the past decades, maybe an "outsider" like Warren could input some common sense perspective on things with an untrained set of eyes, such as the now likely-to-extended(rewarded)-for-failing GM's obsession with "length" in building out the roster, or the almost religious abstinence from investing the cap space in the trenches (save for the few acquisitions that didn't outright faceplant spectacularly). Speaking of which, someone on Reddit pointed out that Fail King spent the the second least in the entire NFL on the OL in the 2024 season, now all of sudden the lame duck (for the time being) is expected to turn it all around in one off-season through FA and the draft (which is reportedly not very strong in OL) ?! That alone should give any HC candidate major pauses.

There's a lot to criticize Ryan Poles for. But I just cant bring myself to blaming him for Eberflus. He came in to the job with the Bears already down to 3 finalists. It just doesn't feel like that was ever his decision. And that was just so ass backwards to interview coaches before a GM is hired.

Now if you want to get in to his terrible free agent signings, up and down drafting... that's a whole nother story.

Regarding Warren. I'm not sure what to think of him. I haven't been a fan of how he's handled the stadium issue. But until a deal is reached, we wont really know what was real and what was posturing.

I wonder what he was even doing for that to have happened. I would think it would be immobilized to avoid something like that to happen so early in his recovery.

Can't help but wonder if he was doing something that would violate his contract to where it could be voided.

Although Cleveland deserves being stuck to the very end of that contract for trading for that piece of crap human knowing what he had done.
