Notre Dame HC Marcus Freeman a candidate for the Bears opening.

I could see Freeman being a great coach, but I think I'd prefer they go with someone with a proven NFL track record even if only at the coordinator level. A college coach seems too risky to me.

A competent coach this year has this team in a WC spot and we have the draft picks to make this team even better after this year.

Bad teams really showed why they have bad records this weekend. Bears, Raiders, Panthers, NE and Jets all with late chances to win and messed up.

By Christmas, Thomas Brown will be interim team president, and he'll be promoted to interim owner on Black Monday.

I don't follow or watch press conferences, but is there a reason why this is tweet worthy? Seems suspicious.
I've said this a few times this season (because the Bears makes it relevant a few times per season at least), but the NFL is different from the NHL when it comes to hearing from the GM (and team president, I suppose).

The press meets with the GM and gets to ask him questions like 3 times per season. Start of season, end of season, trade deadline.

Adam Hoge brought this up after the London trip, where the international reporters didn't seem to understand why Ryan Poles's making an appearance to answer questions from the press was such a big occasion for all the Bears reporters.

I doubt that they'll say anything particularly interesting today. "We appreciate Eberflus's work with the Bears. We thank Thomas Brown for accepting this role for the rest of the season. The stadium will totally happen, you guys."

I think the "Leader of Men" quote that is being circulated about what the Bears will want in a head coach will be misinterpreted. I think it just means that if Ben Johnson turns out to be as meek as Waldron, they won't hire him to be the head coach (which I think is good), not that they're 100% on someone like Vrabel just because he has proven history as a leader.

I do think it may indicate that they are very willing to give Thomas Brown a chance if he can lead the team down the stretch.

Ah, didn't realize he has a show covering it.
You can watch the live presser on youtube @ChicagoBears channel. Most pressers are available live and personally I'd rather watch for myself than read some media spit out their own takes from what was said. Flus typically had Monday pressers, sometimes Caleb as well.

‘Leader of men’. What the hell does that even mean?

Is Mike Tomlin a ‘leader of men’ when his WR pulls the bullshit he does and isn’t disciplined?

Is Demeco Ryans and his lack of acccountability for Al Shahir or whatever the hell his name is?

Hear me out here: Thomas Brown has a great run down the stretch, gets hired as head coach, proceeds to completely bomb the next season, and the Bears hire Shanahan who becomes the next Andy Reid.

The more I think about it, the more I think Ben Johnson won't be the guy. He comes across as too quiet and not this macho man they're dropping hints that they want.

I'll say it before, I'll say it again...

The Bears are run by morons.

....

More specifically, having a GM on a warm/hot seat choosing a head coach when said GM is going to be the next one fired if things go badly (or if said GM feels the heat and feels the need to make an emergency firing to save his ass) is all kinds of ass-backwards. Maybe things work out, but more likely than not we're going to have a GM search on our hands in a year or two, and that means it'd be done with the understanding that the new GM would need to give someone else's guy a chance inexplicably or making it on him to can someone.

It's just dumb. Fire Poles, pick a new GM, have the GM pick a new coach, have the new coach pick his coordinators and position coaches, and move on from there. Clean slate rather than a cluttered mess.
