OT: Bears & NFL Talk 103

Bucs just did Evans a solid to get him 1000+ yards in a situation they’d ordinarily be kneeling for the W. Crowd and team goes wild. That was really cool.

The ending of that Tampa game was just awesome.

Evans owes Baker a big ass steak dinner!

Bryce Young with a huge drive and game to beat Atlanta in OT.

Bittersweet because it costs us a draft spot, but still happier with W.

Took em to Week 18 to get a road W
Say what you want about moral victories but losing 10 straight and 11 straight against GB was long enough

Mostly just glad that season is in the rearview. For the love of god please hire someone worthwhile. If Shanahan is done in San Francisco he'd be my guy.

I can kind of see him saying it, at least in his head, because the most desired option is likely bringing Poles replacement with him.

Patriots already fired Mayo basically meaning Vrabel there is a lock.

I don’t want Vrabel here so I see that as a positive. Also turns the heat up on signing Johnson with one less alternative now.

That's disappointing. Vrabel was my #1 option. I also think Ben Johnson is going to Jacksonville. Bears not firing Poles will be the reason they don't get Johnson in my opinion.

I don’t want a defensive head coach. Even if Johnson goes to Jacksonville, find a different offensive minded coach. I wonder how close Liam Coen is or if he’s one more coaching cycle away from being an option.

The way this team is built needs an offensive mind running it, IMO.

Even if you get lucky with Vrabel picking a good OC, and Caleb is that guy, there is a good chance you lose that OC and now you gotta figure out a whole new offensive plan again.

Vrabel has experience coaching the offensive side of the ball too. That is why you trust him to hire the best offensive staff around him in case that happens. How many OC's did Belichick had that left and he and Brady still didn't miss a beat? Yes I know Brady is the goat but if you're that guy, it shouldn't matter. Caleb just had 2 different playcallers this season and 2 head coaches. Still had a solid rookie season. I'm not worried about him long term. Get the kid a damn o-line.

Why would a defensive coach be your #1 option?

Asking, not fighting.

I don’t see a high value OC leaving where they are to take the same job in Chicago (especially considering ownership and GM status)
You bring in Johnson or a similar offensive guy. Then look for a DC.

Other thing that worries me about going defensive minded HC is you know that first round pick is going to be spent on the defensive line.

When you are relying so much on CW being the guy to turn this franchise around…. Do you want to rely on rebuilding the offensive line with second round and beyond picks? Not sure I do.
