Lions fans are gonna face disappointment this year. That D has way too many injuries at the wrong time of the season. They look terrible.

I’m going Philly and Buffalo

Oh look, a team competently handling an end of game time management situation to secure the win with a field goal as time expires after attaining better field position to reduce the odds of a miss or a low trajectory block.

Competency looks foreign to me.

So with the Hawks firing Luke yesterday, all 3 professional sports teams I am a fan of have canned their coach since August. Such a great time to be a sports fan in Chicago!

I agree with what you’re saying but when the ownership and leadership isn’t good it’s hard to have success. Poles isn’t exactly free and clear, there’s something going on there. So he gets fired and now what? New guy gets saddled with you? What if that’s after a year? I’m just saying good coaches are picky.
I need to watch those pressers in full, which I haven't done yet. From clips I have seen, I didnt get the feeling that Warren made it crystal clear that Poles is here for the longterm. And if my impression is correct, I think that's a mistake. You can't keep him, but leave it where it's viewed as him potentially being lame-duck. This is one of a few things I'm not a fan of Warren over (I mentioned his stadium handling in a post a few days ago)

My hope is Thomas Brown is everything people are advertising about and gushing about, and he gets hired as he's our next longterm coach. But who knows how that will work out.

There's that other thread on here about fans being stupid for wanting Kyle out. And I'm not saying I want Kyle out, but what has he really done so far? Has Kyle put Bedard in the best position to grow as a player? Hmmm....

I look at the Bears and I can envision a Super Bowl being won in the next few years. Like I said, Caleb could be ready to take off like a rocket for our next head coach. I get that hockey takes longer to build from the studs than football - but can we envision the Hawks being a playoff powerhouse 2, 3 or 4 years from now? I'm not seeing it yet. So I'm not calling for Kyle's head, but I think we need to see some serious progress in the next 12 months form him. And I just mixed a hockey and football in one post, haha.

My exact point. You can absolutely make an argument to keep Poles. The roster is pretty solid. He whiffed massively on coaching hire, and obviously was involved in the debacle of the OC hire, but in general, I can see keeping him. What you can't do is what they're doing now is this whole Warren, Poles power struggle. I promise you you're not attracting a great HC candidate while your leadership structure is unclear. Which I get the same exact vibe you do. So just fire the guy.

The 2024 NFL players association poll would tend to disagree. The worst owner grades were KC (F-), Pitts (F). Ari (F), TB (D-), Car (D), and NE (D+). Bears owner received a B+ and Chicago had some of the best facility and working condition grades overall. KC had pretty much the worst working conditions leaguewise, getting no better than a C+ in any of the 11 categories except coach (A+). I'd think if you removed A Reid there'd be no shortage of people wanting to coach KC and Mahomes regardless of the owner.

There are MANY worse owners than the McCaskeys. Especially recently now that it seems like the "cheap" moniker is starting to be less accurate. Warren, for as sure as I feel that he's going to try to sell tickets to a stadium that doesn't exist in 2 years, was an expensive hire. Waldron, for as bad as he was, was probably among the most expensive OC hires this offseason. The coaching staff in general is among the biggest in the league. They paid Thomas Brown, a guy who has 3 HC interviews, to basically sit around for what I always felt was redundancy in case Waldron was hired away after one season (heh).

George is incompetent, and he certainly does things backwards, but some of the owners in the NFL are... about as bad as billionaires come.

I'm getting the vibe that they are trying to spruce the franchise over the next 5-10 years before selling.

I get the consternation about the organizational structure with Warren/Poles. We'll see if that's enough to convince a Ben Johnson to not take the position.

I agree. He isn't cheap like the reputation he gets and I think overall he wants to win really bad. I was more discussing about the disfunction. At the end of the day he allows things like GM and HC mismatches and doesn't understand how they all intertwine. They interviewed a f***ing HC before a GM.

I'm more referring to the absolute disfunction leadership wise. He's still apart of that. The facilities are great, Halas Hall is nice. What I'm referring to is the fact that Ryan Poles seat is warm and Warren is pulling the power card and now we want to add a big name HC to this mix. "Who is who in the zoo" at JT would say.

Interesting that Allen is so vocal about being willing to remain with the Bears.

I would love Allen in a smaller role for significantly less money next season. I think he'd be great for Odunze. Williams is leaning on him too heavily this season, but I think a better scheme and offensive plan could fix that (plus the general comfort that a year 2 QB would have compared to year 1).

Fun fact: the offensive and defensive playcallers for the Bears for the rest of the season both momentarily called plays for the Carolina Panthers before having that responsibility assumed by the head coach who felt his job was on the line and was later fired.

It is insane that Eberflus didn't win on a Sunday road game as an NFL head coach. I wonder if he switched anything up this season to try to remedy that.

Swift and Moore both active.

We’ve talked about Brisker replacements because of concussions, but the same needs to be addressed when it comes to Roschonn as he’s out again.

Super strong RB class. I think they should grab one in round 3 or later regardless of Roschon's future health.

Amegadjie in, Borom out. Borom was absolutely unplayable last game. Even if we ignore the QB draw where he just stood there and let a guy run right past him, he was ghastly.

Saints winning is good for draft watch, puts them at 5 wins.

Edit: spoke too soon, thought the INT ended the game. NYG about to get ball back.

Jets up late against Miami which would also be good.

It looked like the one saints d tackle held the guard down from underneath as the other jumped him.

Special teams coaches are certainly finding ways to get things done they know the refs won't call
