So does Williams suck or are the Bears failing him?
Hard to say. The past few weeks, the former NFL QBs who are looking at tape and reporting back on it has basically said that he's certainly not without blame, but the offensive game calling is just baffling, and the O-line is trash.
If I were a betting man, I would say that they will say the same thing this week. But we'll see. I can't see anything on the broadcast during the game.
There will be screenshot warriors on Twitter and All-22 warriors on YouTube with no experience playing football pointing out open receivers, as there are every week. Those can be safely discounted.
My breaking point with Fields came when the former QBs started pointing out times where he started doing things like looking at open receivers during the read multiple times per game and just refused to throw the ball, didn't process through his reads, or bailed from good pockets instead of waiting for the receivers to finish their routes. I haven't seen that from Williams. Until I do, I'm not particularly worried.
His accuracy is bad right now. It's a weird one, since it hasn't been an issue in the past.
That all being said, it could be like Bryce Young (who, to be fair, has looked fine the past few weeks), where the team buys a new O-line who does give him time, have the OC get receivers open, and he still looks awful. Which is why I'd say that he might suck, but you can't say in this current situation.
