Looks like he survived
Eh, we'll see. There's probably things that need to be done first. Brown (or whoever would be interim HC) would need to be talked to before you drop the axe. Need to make sure you have someone who is prepared to take over for the last 5 games.

Bears picking 9th currently. Looking at the scoreboard there is a reasonable chance the 3 win Pats and Jets win this week which would tie them in the standings with the Bears.

I will be happy as long as the pick 10th or better, but the Bears losing out really isn't all that unrealistic.

He's slated to make his scheduled press conference in the next few minutes. If he's not fired before that, I find it hard to believe the Bears would do it after he does the press conference.

They're 9th because the Bengals and Saints haven't played yet this week. If they both lose, the Bears are still 11th.

The Bears lose tiebreakers from having a difficult schedule.

Yes, but Bears have the schedule advantage. Already lost, obviously, and travel for a game @ SF who are still fighting for the playoffs and division.

Bengals are favored this week and have Dallas next week and will likely be favored again. Saints host the Rams this week and have the Giants next week.

I'd bet the Bears jump both of them no later than after next week if not this week.

Yeah, if the Bears pick high, they'll do so because other teams below them win a few more games over the rest of the season. In Santa Clara, at Minnesota, against the Lions, against the Seahawks, and at Lambeau is one hell of a final stretch of games.

Sure, maybe. I just view it as we're in that position until those teams do lose.

And the Bears against SF could be an upset surprise. SF seems to have fallen apart, and if Buffalo pummels them Sunday night, they may just mail in the season.

Until Eberflus is canned I'm not going to assume they're a threat to upset anyone, especially a team barely hanging onto playoff hopes.

Right now the finale against GB is the only game that might not have playoff implications for the Bears opponent. Every other game should be looked as a must win for their opponent given they're playing the lowly Bears.

Eberflus said he will be the coach against the 49ers.

Not even remotely surprised.

If anything at this point, I think the team is going to be run even more cheaply, like the Cubs, when the old lady finally croaks.

Is having the weekend off after a holiday game like this common?

You'd think for a team with so many discipline issues, mostly from bad coaching, they'd be doing... like just about anything to try and improve.

If I were to guess, this is when the real collapse happens.

The players are clearly done with the coach, the defense lets team march into the red zone at will and has for the entire losing streak, the offense has played much better than expected against really strong divisional opponents three games in a row and lost all three in heartbreaking fashion, local and national media are very loud about how much the coach needs to be fired right now.

They're removing the players from the main problem with the team for the weekend! That's something!

Oh no doubt about it. If you thought DJ Moore was already half assing routes because he's been paid... Just wait and see how he looks the next 5 games after those comments lol.
