Post-Game Talk: Be still my Oily heart

Would you rather we got swept? That could of been an alternative. Are we lucky? Sure but it beats the alternative.

I'm enjoying helping my kids cope with the Oilers playing terrible and making them feel better as they go to bed that the Oilers will probably lose, then telling them the Oilers won in the morning :)

Is there a way in which we bring Stecher in and sit Nurse? Every metric and eye test reveals Nurse is hindering out club real bad. The rest of the D are doing all right. Kulak brings it every playoffs. Klingberg a huge surprise.

Can you make the lefts and rights work?

That’s a terrible take lol. Nurse plays so good when not paired with Bouchard.

Nurse has to play with not Bouchard for a period of time to get his game on track. They don't work together and when Nurse plays with someone he doesn't work with he goes from a pretty solid Top 4 player to a complete liability.

I want to see how he looks with Klingberg, and if that doesn't go take out Emberson and put Stecher with him. We know the Kulak/Stecher work with him.

I think it is much simpler to put in Stecher for Emberson.

Walman-Bouch
Nurse-Stecher
Kulak-Klingberg

Swap Kulak and Walman as needed.

Personally I doubt they move off Emberson. They've run basically a top 4/5 d most of the year with their #6 protected. Emberson is a support piece for a PK that's finally stabilized over the past couple of games. He may get low EV minutes but fresh for PK time to help stall out what's been a lethal and series setting Power Play is critical to hopes of winning.
There's no way it's sustainable to play emberson 8 minutes a night and just run the shit out of bouchard the way they've been doing. Stretcher is the better player this idea that he can't replace embrsons pk minutes is a little out there as well. Not only that but stretcher plays well with nurse the coaches don't even trust emberson to play bottom pairing minutes right now.

Early playoffs are so weird

We aren't winning shit with this defense.

Cripes.. that was ugly
I guess, I mean the Kings have 4 guys they use and one is a taller Poor Man's Kulak who can't skate. They aren't all going to HHOFers, though they need to improve the rest of the game.

They have to start playing with the lead and holding on to it. Bouchard's had two 'normal' games at 20:44 (W) and 21:42 (L) with last night's 35:54 OT (W) outlier and 28:20 opener (L). He's driving offense, 7 points, with a top heavy three person driver. Regarding the PK, Emberson's results have been good despite the team being barbecued on it. Emberson's still averaging 11:75 TOI over the series.

Just don't think they'll move away from Emberson next game. With Klingberg stepping up to second pair minutes it's not like Stetcher is going to get anymore ice time that Emberson has (and basically how they sheltered their #6 much of the season).
