Post-Game Talk: Be still my Oily heart

I’ve always thought he was a Pickard guy. Just the way he criticized Skinner in the RS made me think he likes Pickard better.

I guess he won the power struggle with Schwartz.
I don't really buy this. I don't think Pickard was very good in game 3. It's a lot easier to be confident about your goalie after a good game than a bad one.

The reality is that despite how much Skinner has struggled this year, his ceiling is still higher than Pickard's. I'm not defending him, it's just a reality that Skinner has had longer sustained stretches where he has been very good than Pickard has. So I think it makes sense that they tried to "get him going" all the way to the end. I would've started Pickard in game 1, but I can see the logic. You get Skinner from January, and that's the best version of either available goalie.

At this point they don't have a choice, Skinner has played his way out of the net.

He might just mean it’s more stressful than fun. I feel that way at times, doesn’t mean I’m not gonna watch.

Like the Calgary series a couple years ago.. that was so stressful I’m not sure I can say I enjoyed it

Living in Vancouver last year during the canucks series was not fun. Fought for my goddamn life everyday lol.

If you listen to how Knob criticized Skinner near the end of the RS, I think that was his true feelings being revealed. We saw it again with his pregame from yesterday and then again with his postgame where he says how much better the guys play in front of Pickard. It’s like a weight has been lifted from his shoulders and he’s finally free from the Schwartz cloud.

If you're getting your ass pounded for 50 minutes a night you aren't watching hockey properly!

I actually thought Frederic did very well on that line with Henrique and Brown in the latter part of the game.

I think I might put Skinner in for Arvidsson, but who knows, they got the lines humming as the 3rd rolled along.
I wouldnt change anything up. Keep things the way they were in the 3rd unless Ekholm or Stecher is back

Maybe, Emberson killed it on the PK, and that was a positive factor.
Cant keep a guy in who plays 8 minutes in an 80 minute game when stretcher could be just as good on the pk. Either that or go the 11 7 route and let bouchard stop playing pk minutes. Need to get nurse far away from bouchard and emberson isn't going to be able to play those minutes

This is all totally fair.

Really? That's too bad. Man I thought it was awesome. I live downtown and wore my Oilers jersey everywhere and had overwhelmingly fun and respectful interactions. My cousin who is a native Vancouverite thought I was crazy to do this. But I only encountered one aggressive moron and I just laughed at him.

No, you're right. Most interactions were great in the street and met tons of cool nucks and oilers fans during the run.

However, I have a ton of friends and colleagues who are hardcore Nucks fans (some of few) and it got heated LOL

I doubt they make any lineup changes but I would swap Skinner in for Arvidsson. I think J Skinner if given the opportunity could have an impact similar to Klingberg.

The team is slowly getting better and better while LA kings seem to be going in the other direction.

Our special teams is looking good again (thanks Perry) and even defense looked better once Bouchard-Nurse pairing was separated.

Nurse-Klingberg looked great as did Kulak-Bouch.

Depth is looking better to with Kane, Hyman, Nuge Brown , Perry stepping up.

Janmark is pretty much the weakest link up front and even he is pretty good.
