Post-Game Talk: Be still my Oily heart

We are winning this series boys.

LA will never learn. They play so well when they’re aggressive and then they sag back and choke it away.
Bit premature for this, I think. While the Oil have the momentum for the moment, LA has lost. I believe, 4 out of 43 games at home so far this season.

Basically, it's all down to game 5 now.

This song is truly awful. Weird Al doesn't even need to lampoon it.

If it makes you feel any better, "Private Eyes" was their locker room win song at the beginning of the Decade of Darkness.

So by that logic, playing an awful song should take us right to the Cup... :sarcasm:

If the Oilers played the whole game like they were down by 2 with five minutes left, we'd go 16-0 easily. Comebacks are great but you can't rely on them every time. They need to start asserting themselves from the drop of the puck like they did in Game 3.

Miracles do happen, I went to bed after 2 periods when we only had 11 shots on goal. Lets see if the effort from period 3 and OT can actually carry to period 1 of game 5. I am sure LA was feeling confident and cocky going into game 3, now after blowing 2 straight games late they might start feeling a bit of a choke and deja vu. Game 5 should be interesting

OILERS REMONTADA!

After a night of sleep, I've had a chance to really put thought into what caused the massive turn-around in the 3rd.

Was it the fact that I sat on the right side of the couch? Was removing my McDavid jersey the key? Perhaps it was the mango that I cut (which I also did in game 3).

Superstition aside, I've realized that this was the real reason:

I'm not sure y'all are aware of this, so now might be a good time to point it out:

NHL all-time PPG in the Playoffs:
1. Gretzky 1.84
2. McDavid 1.62
3. Lemieux 1.61
4. Draisaitl 1.50
5. MacKinnon 1.29
6. Messier 1.25

NHL all-time PPG for Defencemen in the Playoffs:
1. Orr 1.24
2. Bouchard 1.14
3. Makar 1.08
4. Leetch 1.02
5. Coffey 1.01

Six of the 11 listed were/are Edmonton Oilers.

It's definitely concerning that the team needs these comebacks. I doubt it's sustainable.

But maybe it's not a permanent problem. The team seems to be figuring out the lineup more and refining. Even next game, we are probably bringing in Stecher for Emberson. Also, the truly tough rounds are 3 and 4, and we might have Ekholm back for those.

Quite simply, it'll work for a little bit but you'll eventually run into teams that just won't let it happen. There's certain other Western Canadian teams that came back a lot in similar fashion before they eventually ran into a brick wall when teams started adjusting. It's great that they managed to come back again but, you gotta start stepping on team's throats and early. They fall behind early again in game 5 and I don't think they manage another miracle.

How does Perry not get an assist on the GWG. Look at him owning Doughty in the slot. Hahaha.
I thought the same thing last night but looked this morning & they have it correct now.

Drai from Perry & McJesus.
