Post-Game Talk: Be still my Oily heart

Am I the only one who thought the Fiala goal shouldn’t have counted? Looked like he knocked it down with a high stick to me.

Also, the Foegele goal it looked like Pickard made the initial save and had the puck covered with the pad but Foegele pushed the pad with his stick to uncover the puck. Maybe my eyes deceived me (would have to watch the replay again)

I hear you, Drive. This take totally depends on who you listen to. Actual time on ice - nah, that doesn’t mean anything, lol as with the TNT broadcast, and the continued fellation over the Kings, they talked about how deep the Kings are, and overall, just how great they were. Even in the first intro to the game, they talked about if LA was going to go up 3-1. There was zero mention of ‘Oilers battling back to make it 2-2’.

LA this, LA that. Finally, in the end, the crew started talking about how hard the Oil were pushing. I know people crap on Jack and Louie, but I actually wish I could have them as the broadcast team vs. the Amurican group.
Kings have an energy shortage in the lineup. They ditched on a lot of their young scrub type players feeling they werren't going to get anywhere (and they haven't even elsewhere) 3yrs ago Kings had a deep roster but not enough high end talent imo. But they're not deep now. That said Jeannot and Turcotte are hurt for forwards and they can also insert Akil Thomas if they dared to trust him.

Strange thing is how little they use Movarare or Spencer on D. Those guys can play minutes, the coaching just won't give it to them.

Strange too that the Kings were hanging back in OT so much. That was just inevitable depth. A tired club should try to win in first couple mins of OT and or lose trying to. Hanging back was just going to drill them into the ice, and that essentially what 3rd period and OT were.

Yeah he definitely pushed Pickard’s pad out of the way. I’m shocked that wasn’t challenged.

You don't see the difference in how the score is effected by the way the team plays in front of who ever is in net? Tonight was two different games split the first two periods and the last two.

The team was terrible in LA, outside of the late push in the third of game one and took a lot of penalties. They took 10 in those two games compared to five at home.
Stuart Skinner would still barely get to 0.900 with Edmonton playing like they have in the last 2 games. He also let in pure tinkers in his first two games that had nothing to do with D.

There isn't anything there. Lets hope to god management agrees.

It's interesting how the team decided to completely replace him on the top PP unit with Perry.

Can't really complain though because it's working.

Changes were definitely needed after the pathetic output we were seeing... Perry's goals per 60 were attractive all season. He probably could've reached 25 this season with more ice time.

Definitely a high stick

Can't be reviewed because the contact happened outside the offensive zone though. Both the second and third LA goals probably shouldn't have counted tonight but battling the refs is always part of playing a playoff series against LA I guess.
I was not aware of that rule! Thanks for the insight 👍

Great job! I totally missed that! Also tells you how great Pickard was when you realize that only one of his goals against should've counted...

Hiller is crying so much because that loss was even worse for them than it seems. They sold the farm to get that win by basically playing 8 forwards and 4.5 defensemen, because they thought if they could get to 3-1, they'd basically have the series in the bag.

Instead, they lost AND they're now depleted against an Edmonton team that has found its legs and momentum. LA is in serious trouble. But hey, if they lose, they'll always have that cringy as hell celebratory team photo after *checks notes* winning 1 game. Beside the point, that's not a serious group of players over there.

On ice save % isn’t pure luck though. That goals 9 goals against isn’t an accident. That said Bouch is the clutchest player on the team. Knob just has to keep him away from Nurse the rest of the way.
