Post-Game Talk: Be still my Oily heart

Kind of wild - 4 full periods and they had 5 guys below 5 minutes in ice time.

I guess that's not totally true - Lewis played 5:19. 😂

Andersson, Doughty, and Edmundson played more than McDavid, Draisaitl, and Bouchard.

With how balanced their top 9 is, the 4th line not getting a ton of time isn't a big problem.

They're going to kill their top 4 though and that's by far their biggest problem. Especially as Edmundson and Doughty aren't 25+ minute guys.

Crazy that the team missing Ekholm has less concerns about their depth D getting exposed.

What an OT by your lads. Only thing I saw (OT started ~6.30 AM here in Germany) but that was a gusty effort by everyone and in the end the big guns just forced it. Big shout to the guys who trapped the Kings out there for 2 minutes before the icing as well. Obviously happy to see our boy Leon win it. Sorry for rambling here but damn what an exciting period of overtime.
It was great OT, now let's see that in the first next game.

I think he's just a flat out better goaltender.
He is. His stats are much better than Skinner's any way you slice it in the last few years.

He's way more athletic. He's not a worldbeater and he isnt' like Vasi etc, huge guys who moves well and are athletic. Skinner is biggish and non-athletic. Pickard is the better option. This fantasy of Skinner the homegrown kid becoming a legit start is dead.

All of us must be in agreement that he never plays another game here right? He isn't an athlete.

I don’t know what it is but the team just wins games with Pickard in. It’s never a jaw dropping performance but gets the W more often than not.

Pickard 24-11
Stu - 26-24
I said it earlier

2022/23 Jack Campbell 36GP .888 save %
Stu Skinner career playoffs 37GP .889 save %

Campbell was deemed unplayable by all media. Y’all know how they feel about Skinner

They have now planted the seed of doubt and given it life. That insidious nagging in the back of Kings' minds is there, and will keep growing -- especially with them shortening their bench to an almost unreal extent running the top two pairs repeatedly, playing passive, reactive hockey and still unable to lock it down. FFS please let's not start behind the eight ball again though. Like half the fan base is going to keel over from heart attacks.

That's the thing though - we actually have good depth.

Say what you want about our offseason moves, our roster construction and how we didn't quite buckle down and get going in the regular season and all that, but fundamentally we're a deep deep team. Deeper than last year.

I think this team needs some ulterior motives sometimes. It's why they can go from barely looking like they play together to an OT like that.

They got nuge his 100pts, hyman his 50g, Bouch his ppg. This year, I think they want Pickard to get his pump. What a story it'd be for him, and he's giving them a chance every night. He deserves the net, and the same leash Stu got.
