Post-Game Talk: Be still my Oily heart

"Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;
the band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,
and somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout;
but there is no joy in L.A.—mighty Kuemper has struck out."
With apologies to Ernest Thayer

You don't see the difference in how the score is effected by the way the team plays in front of who ever is in net? Tonight was two different games split the first two periods and the last two.

The team was terrible in LA, outside of the late push in the third of game one and took a lot of penalties. They took 10 in those two games compared to five at home.
This is ridiculous. Heres Crott after another huge Win and all he wants to talk about..

This is to the point of not even being a fan of the club.

I wonder why the Oilers can't dominate in the first period like they did in the overtime?

They end up outshooting the Kings in the game after having been outshot 2-1 by the 2nd period.

I thought Klingberg had a great game on the blueline?
Second period has actually been our worse period which was our best period all season I think? Hockey man.

Corey Perry, yet again, shows he is a huge part of this team and any success they might have this playoff year.

For all the deserved flak management gets, bringing Perry back was massive.
I didn't think he would but somehow he defies father time. That goal was incredible too. Nobody would even try that, he scores on it.

Kane was also dangerous around the net. Those two vets are doing something.

I agree with those commenting that the Kings shortening their bench to this degree is killing them. Basically playing 5 d and 8/9 forwards.

Big part of it is the Kings. They went into a total shell in the 3rd, and by the time OT started their top 9 and top 4 were running on fumes.

OK, now I seriously think you are Stu's dad.

Actually, scratch that. Even Stu's dad would be happy about the win. Hell, even Stu might be happy...

Kings spent themselves again, very much like game 1, and they were going shortbench and two D pairs for most of the game. You just can't do that. Hard to play 3 periods and OT basically double shifting. Good thing we got it done with the PP when we did. We were going redline minutes too on some players.

Kind of wild - 4 full periods and they had 5 guys below 5 minutes in ice time.

I guess that's not totally true - Lewis played 5:19. 😂

Andersson, Doughty, and Edmundson played more than McDavid, Draisaitl, and Bouchard.
