Barzal unhappy with Fan Support/Attendance at UBS Arena

NYI are having a great season and Barzel is top 5 in scoring and they running away with their division have already clinched a playoff spot. It is not like he has have a very bad season, sitting like 7 pts out of the playoff spot and would have to jump 7 teams to get the last wildcard spot and he most certainly has not missed 1/2 the year due to injury and is not getting paid 9mill a year for the 12pts in 25 games he played in this year.

NYI with Barzel, Roy and LL (from several previous discussions) are sitting house with a massive gas leak and he decided to light up one of LL cigars!

There is an old adage IF YOU WIN THEY WILL COME. That is how you get asses in the seats

So no one gets hurt when trashy fans inevitably decide to throw them to protest a bad call

whats the name of that app playa
Tick Pick. It’s the cheapest app I’ve found for Hockey games, but it’s not as reliable for things like concerts/comedy shows.

I uninstalled Ticketmaster when I started comparing Penguins ticket prices and tickpick was cheaper everytime lol

Monday evening on a 3 Day American Holiday in a non-playoff teams barn against another non Playoff Team, where neither team has a superstar?

What am I missing?

they have a new arena what do they have to be upset about

are people being priced out of it or what, enlighten me

Tough for the Islanders. Not only are they 2nd in their own city, but a third team is located in Newark that could otherwise help attract a fanbase. Not sure how it goes in other sports, but upstate New York having a team in Buffalo could also take a few otherwise fans.

Basically they're in a huge city but functionally a small market team. It's a weird situation.

Buffalo is an entirely different world than NYC -- it's almost an 8 hour drive. Philadelphia and Washington D.C. are closer.

Gotta win to have fans there. NYI hasn't really been an exciting team for some time now. They have the pieces to retool, bring in some offence.

Even losing teams draw well sometimes if there's an exciting player or two on the team. Blackhawks were awful last year but still had good attendance due to Bedard.

i actually respect it.

The oilers were historically bad for over 10 years and still packed the building. Never sent a message to ownership that its not okay. At least Isles fans sit it out and get the owners where it hurts.

The Islanders are a prime example of why fans want rebuilds/retools and not keep the status quo when they clearly aren't good enough.

Nobody wants to watch a tweener team that isn't bad enough to get a top pick but not good enough to make a playoff run. Best case they make one of the two wild cards and then lose in 4 or 5 games. No mans land.

It's the Chicago Bulls. Finishing in 10th and scraping into the Play-In Tournament. No foreseeable hope for the future. Just waiting around for a blow up so that they can then tank for three years and you at least can be excited for the draft and maybe getting good again in 3-5 years after that. It's a miserable situation.

Just seems like they play 90s NJ hockey. They dont, but its always low scoring, with a couple empty netters at the end, thats the impression. The opposite of must watch hockey.

Some of y’all have some strong opinions for some throwaway comment he made on the bench.

Seriously, we’re getting bent out of shape over what dudes say on the bench now? I swear, some of these “back in my day” folks are so easily offended.
Back in the day you could literally beat fans in the stands with a shoe.

Nowadays you can't even state what a sad bunch they are on the bench.

Isles fans are lucky Barzal didn't go #MillburyMode on their asses.

Um, no, you weren’t allowed to beat fans with their own shoe, hence his suspension.

I'm pretty sure what he actually said was "this place needs puppies. f***ing puppies, bro. f***ing doges"

They're one of, if not the most boring team in the league and have been for years. Barzal is one of the few players on that team worth watching. It mostly lies with management not icing a team than fans care to watch, I have no problem with Barzal's comments.
