Barzal or Dobson who Would You Rather See Traded

Is it a coincidence that the Isles are looking better with Barzal back in the lineup? I’m not going to suggest they’re winning because Dobson is injured but let’s just say the team doesn’t miss him.

Keep #13.

Be careful what you believe in because stats I have compiled show since the beginning of the season the Islanders have been out of the playoffs every time Barzal opens his eyes in the morning. :thumbu:

To me it's pretty simple. You keep Brazal and you get a star player in return for Dobson or a Big haul for picks and prospects for him.

What does everyone think Dobson’s current value would be if he was traded? I have a grasp but just want to get everyone else’s ideas.

None, because Lou believes in the "CORE"..

Everyone sing! Lou believes in the core, Lou believes in the core.

Dobson...

Because as of right now he doesn't have that big contract (and I'm not sure he's worth it), so he would secure a lot more in a trade.

I’ve reluctantly come to terms with the likelihood that Lou keeps Nelson and probably resigns him. Palmieri is the guy I’m more afraid of resigning.

Getting into Lou’s head, I could see Dobson traded for a solid NHL regular and a lesser pick/prospect.

If that’s what comes to pass, I hope he at least gets something for Palmieri at the TDL and fills that spot with an asset gained from a Dobson (or another) trade.

Would you guys trade both for both Montreal's 2025 1sts (Calgary one might be 10-15 or 25-30), Mailloux, Mesar and roster players like Matheson, Dach, Anderson.

LOL, do we really need to respond to this hilarious offer?

We aren’t the GM so we couldn’t possibly make this trade.

Ideally at this point in time they trade neither. Isles need to get younger and I think Dobson’s gaffs can be solved. The Isles need to load up on young talent. These two have to lead the charge. I hope the Isles recent record puts to rest that Barzal is a detriment to the team. He is the driving force behind this teams offense. So silly how some try to connect the dots. It has been noted in the past that historically the Pens have a more winning record without Crosby in the line up with a .644 win percentage without him versus a .604 with him. No Pens fan would have suggested they trade him but inexplicably we have some fans here who do.

Neither.

I will say it again — Dobson is under team control for another season minimum even with arbitration. No GM is going to give him what he is looking for in 8-9 mil. He's having a down year and has been hurt for stretches. Equally with his down year, you will not get the "star" back you may think. I say keep Dobson and sort out another bridge deal 1 or 2 years that says "Show me" and lets see if he can, and if he is healthy.

For Barzal — he frustrates at times (as dose Dobson, as do they all). He is having a down year but so are all of them. Plus he's hurt.

I think fans are overreacting to the troubles this team is having. You trade Barzal and Dobson and Horvat and Sorokin if you are tearing the entire franchise to the bones. That is NOT required in my mind.

Let's just start with trading some older expiring contracts. Trade Nelson. Trade Palmieri. Those two trade are absolutely required. There should be absolutely no universe that makes any hockey sense or business sense that either player should be on this team after 3pm March 7. The team needs to get younger, build up some assets that have fresher, younger legs.

Trading Pageau, and I would say one of Pelech or Pulock would be next — but only if the deal back is an offer I can't refuse.

Let's see where they are after dealing (HOPEFULLY) Nelson and Palmieri. Focus on the draft and free agency and try again in 2025-26 with a new look team. If it proves to be a struggle again, Pageau and Lee should be traded, and again, they get a bit younger, hopefully faster.

Trading Dobson will be a repeat of trading Toews. A giant effing mistake.

By the time the Isles realize neither of these two players are not core players to build and win around, they’ll be locked into 8 year deals that the team will be stuck with and still riding the lotto during most of their term.

Oh well.
