Certainly not an unexpected possibility but there are definitely pros and cons here. I'm ok with this happening given the current state of our defence. I don't see how his presence on our current blueline can make it any worse and he definitely should help our anemic PP.

I'm still thinking that maybe Huska is potentially looking to bring Barrie into our org in a manner similar to how Stone's career ended, as a potential player dev/coach kind of transition towards retirement. It's close enough to home for him and I don't see Barrie deciding to end his career in Europe.

Huska coached Barrie in Junior, people forget the personal side of this

Yeah, I think a few posters mentioned it. I feel like it was an extra reason though, not a primary one. Like, ignore that facet and it still made sense to offer Barrie a PTO.

I still don't get the Tinordi thing, unless we specifically needed face punchers in the AHL.

Tinordi sucks in the NHL, but in the AHL he'll still be a solid player. It's always good to have at least 10 guys in the system (including AHL contracts) for the blueline because they need bodies to cover for injuries for 2 teams, and organizational trades. The Wranglers used 16 different defensemen last year and 12 of them played at least 10 games in a 72 game season.
