Barrie Colts 2024 25 Season Thread Part I

Had me sweating after that blown lead today. Thank god the boys pulled threw. Anyone know why Flores didn't start first period tonight for Niagara? He made some huge saves tonight.

Go Colts go.

There whole team over the first 2 games has had to sit a period for discplinary issues. all 18 guys and flores have no missed an entire period sitting on the bench.

Yes, they gave us a scare in the 3rd for sure. For the rest of the playoffs, if they play as they did in the first two periods, the team will do very well. They were relentlessness on the puck and smothering Niagara who couldn't match the pace or move the puck quick enough to create opportunities. They seemed to sit back in the third and take the pedal off the metal which opened up the window for the Dogs to climb their way back in the game.

North bay line has really came into its own in the playoffs it’s nice to see would love to see more outta Beaudoin and akey those are the 2 world juniors guys and if they can up their games Barrie will be a tough out for anyone.

I like the sementsov pick the first round small but tons of talent and a very high ceiling looks like a Denver barkey type player to me

Barrie made some very interesting picks. A couple kids out of USNDTP and Hagan Bach out of St Marys and of course the man child Matthew Legge at 6'6 220 lbs...lol

Pretty good draft imo thought there may have been some better options for them in the 2nd round last night but that Edgar kid looks pretty solid goal per game in the Alliance this year and Barrie has done well drafting in the league over the years.

Hopefully the Colts solve there slow starts on the road tonight. I would assume Sam gets the start in net. No known injuries for Barrie. Gotta think that Kingston is down and out if they lose this one. Goaltending is a big hole for them this series. Sam has faced a ton of shots and needs his forwards to clog up the neutral zone before Kingston can gain entry. Still lots of hockey to be played, however; I like Barries momentum.

This team can play so bad at times it’s actually insane. I think this series is over personally I hope I’m wrong but this is the colts team I had a feeling would show up in the playoffs and it’s happening. Marty gotta start shortening the bench Kingston plays their top line 25 mins a night where Barrie plays everyone 15-17 mins a night that won’t work in the playoffs.

Ain’t over til it’s over.

Kingston with momentum- Barrie with home crowd. Game 5 winner likely takes series.

Problem right now is clearly the Beaudoin line. He is a -6 in the playoffs as is hemming and they are tasked with going up against the other teams top lines by Marty. He also only has 2 goals. Not good enough. He is a -6 in this series alone with 0 goals. Personally with having home ice especially and the ability to control it, I think you put Jelsma with him to get him going. They were great together earlier this year and Jelsma is having a great playoff.

Hemming had a great first 2 games was really surprised by him.

Jelsma is awesome

I mean- Hemming is a first round NHL pick so I expect him to be great. He had a horrible start to the year but once he came back from world juniors he was outstanding. Need him to get back to that.

Jelsma is awesome- would not be overly surprised if an NHL team takes a shot on him come seasons end.

Tonight id go
53 29 21
19 81 15
71 25 28
85 84 91/83

Think I’d be playing mostly three lines:
53/28-29-21
19-81-19
85-84-28/53
71-53-25
I also thought 85-21-28 was quite good when the roster was missing players.

Lines aren't going to matter much if they aren't ready to start on time tonight and don't stay out of the penalty box

I think the lines do matter a bit. Stewart & Gardner imo have been more often than not irrelevant even a negative on occasion except when they were wingers for Wakely. And it seems to me Lowe got most of his points playing with Hemming, and timely net front goals with 2 (3 with goalie pulled) of Jelsma, Hemming, Patterson

Who do u start in net. I know Marty and most people may think Hillebrandt but id honestly go Hrebik I just think he’s the better goalie.

Hrebik was the better goalie for almost all of the season, no doubt. But Hillebrandt finished stronger, has been equal or better post season, and was excellent the previous post season.
So Hillebrandt even if for no other good reason than experience.

Big game tonight! Good Luck Colts! What is Hillebrandt's status?
I hope he's alright and playing.
That was unfortunate the other night.
Love seeing best on best in a game 7.

I've seen a lot of Barrie fans upset with #78 and how much of a liability he has become.
It looks like Marty's patience is also starting to run out as you can see by his ice time below:
I really don't understand why he struggles so much to contain his anger on the ice and continues to get himself benched for third periods regularly but i would imagine Ottawa is very concerned at this point with him being a 2nd round pick.
